I actually had my whole radiator and all off, installed everything back in place, filled with 1 1/2 jugs of Engine Ice and let it sit for 3 days. No air period or burping needed. If course I was doing other things to the bike or would never be that patient haha.

Water wetter mixed with standard coolant coagulated in my 12. Didn't really make that big of a difference either. Flushed that crap out and ran distilled till clear, then coughed up a pretty penny and filled the old girl with Engine Ice. Worked far better for the dozen or so times I rode her before she stopped starting and got parked in a corner. |
I may switch my new Vulcan over to Engine Ice as well. Seems to work pretty well. The 12 handled stop and go much better, and even ran a bar lower on the highway! Is good stuff, but kinda spendy.
As far as burping it, I've found tipping the bike over to be very effective. Discoverd that by accident (don't ask...cause I ain't telling....haha), and that's how I do it now. Gets the air out real fast and easy. Top the radiator off, and res tank and you're good to go.

|Will-i-am fast||Is there anything besides water wetter that will work just as good. I’m about to flush my coolant system and saw all the post about distilled water and water wetter and coolant. Just curious. Mine runs on the high side but it just started doing it. I bought my A1 in October 2018 (2000) and it never happened until a couple days ago|

when you say burp...which cap are you removing til hot the resevoir or the radiator cap. Or could it possibly be my thermostat..PLEASE HELP

Because of buying Hong Kong fairings that couldn't take the heat, I ceramic coated my headers at NitroPlate in Nashville. (We used this supplier for applications at Peterbilt when the exhaust was routed close to the cab underside to reduce heat). |
The headers still run hot, but not as quite as hot as before (once I enriched the fuel/air mix with my Power Commander) to compensate for the header change.
Here's a photo of my headers before installation. This is the polished version. Note that where the temp is over 1300 degrees exiting the engine, the polished appearance will become flat.
Note that in the photos below, the black areas on the headers are reflections, not discoloration, as I had not put them on the bike yet.

Mine will blow the fans all day long in stop and go traffic with coolant in it.
I use 1/2 a bottle of Water Wetter, which is half what they recommend for a car. Trust me, it makes a HUGE difference over 50/50 antifreeze.
Water Wetter claims 20 degrees F cooler and I believe them.
Also, I wrap my header pipes. That makes a difference too, not only on the heat pouring onto your legs, but the air-box is cooler which = more HP.

|614zx12||my bike gets hot at lights then cools on the road i also put a muzzy fan on it the newer model 12's have two fans im thinking of adding another fan|

Make sure the overflow tank is not dry or you'll just suck air back into the system as it cools.
The 12 has an air pocket in the cylinders that'll trap air until things start getting hot and moving around. Lightly tapping on the cylinder bank with a soft rubber mallet seems to coax the air out as the coolant reaches hot.
If you really want to cool her down, run distilled (always used distilled regardless) water and Water Wetter. You can add some coolant if you like, but the 50/50 mix is a killer on heat transfer.
In the summer I run 1 cup coolant, and the rest distilled water/Water Wetter mixed as recommended. Makes a HUGE difference. Just do not forget to flush it and 50/50 anti-freeze it well before freezing weather if you live in the snow belt. A cracked block is no laughing matter. ;-)
