So ive never owned a kawi befor but i acquired the zx12r for free so why not its been a complete rebuild frame up but i got to the clutch and now i wanna pull what little hair i have left out everything in the clutch basket is new the narrow friction plate went in first then steels cut side facing fictions new gasket got it all back together and no clutch pulled it apart checked a few things still nothing. I have lever but its not engaging if i put it in first and pull the clutch it doesnt give me the nuetral roll i was rold the pressure plate is specific but i dont remember how it came off please help before i go bald

Clutch

Check your stack height. It must be right to make it work. I haven't got the figures on me here but search the forum and you'll find it or find a downloadable copy of the workshop manual.

You do know you have to fit the last clutch plate in the next grove round and not stacked up on top of the rest?

Check if pressure plate is lined up with clutch basket. There is a small dot cast into both the pressure plate and the basket. If they arent aligned then the plate wont set causing similar issues that you are experiencing.

it doesnt impact operation at all...

Really, didn't know that. I know on the zx-9r's it does, and as the zx12 service manual says to offset it I would have expected it would be the same.

It doesn't matter what "spline" the fibers go in. They are all locked to the basket. You can take one out and move it 90 or 180 degrees and it doesn't care. Not to mention that every billet basket ever made doesn't allow the last fiber to be offset... the stock basket just allows for a better visual of how much the stack has worn as the last fiber can "bottom out" in that offset location with a very worn clutch pack

If you move that last fiber (A) one groove left or right. It will not change the operation of the clutch. Billet baskets do not have a provision to off set the last fiber.

Ok so the stack height is were its supposed to be the pressure plate is lined up proplerly but my issue is i cant get the drop rod to catch if i push down on it it will catch but as soon as i let go it slips off the drop rod doesnt look damaged what should i do now

Get a copy of the service manual!

post pics of the items youre having issues with, maybe they are actually damaged and you wouldnt know unless you had a good one to compare it to

Ive gone threw 3 different sets thinking maybe that was the issue but at this point i thing its the rod that drops through the case to the release
