Well he is about 15-20 lbs heavier then me, my bike is stock with a yosh bolt on pipe, air filter and lowered his will probably have a slip on and maybe lowered and filters too when this goes down. so if skill is even whats the probabal outcome?
1000 by a smidge...harder to launch since its light and shorter wheelbase. You might 60ft him but he should come by you by the 1/8 or so. Overall a close run either way. Get a 17 tooth sprocket so you can use more of your 4th gear. Stock gearing when I was bone stock I trapped 3rd gear rev limiter, its about 141-142 mph...as you get better you have to click 4th with stock gearing. 17 tooth is cheap and you can use more of 4th since you'll probably have to shift anyways...
Get your hands on a front strap, their cheap. Make sure your track allows them (most do).
Literbikes and Big bore bikes are two different animals. In the sportbike world, displacement isn't always king.
The latest 1000's come out of the factory in a VERY high state of tune in regards to cams, head design, gearing, and weight reduction... which is why they are pumping out peak HP numbers equal to that of the ZX12R and Gen 1 Hayabusa stock vs stock. The big bore bikes like the ZX12R and Busa come in a relatively mild state of tune with a lot of extra unneccessary weight and tall gearing. Although they have gobs more torque and bigger engines, they are nowhere near their potential from the factory and will see huge gains in performance from engine modifications and chassis weight reduction.
Sadly, the new literbikes come pretty tricked out right off the showroom floor so they're able to closely compete with (and even beat) the stock or near stock Big Bikes.
But once you start doing heavy mods, the big bikes do a quantum leap in performance and there's no contest.
