Hey guys, just picked up an '06 Z750S last week. Not in bad shape, 23k miles. One thing that the previous owner pointed out was the temperature sensor. The red light on the gauge cluster that lights up when you're overheating is always on. Even if it's 60 degrees out, I start it up and it's red. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Are you sure its a coolant overheat and not the FI (Fault indicator light) because I can't find mention of a red overheat light as it just flashes Hi in the temp window. if you have no temp display check the plug on the back of the thermostat housing by the radiator cap.

Ah!! I've been looking at the wrong wiring and book for that. Unfortunately I dont have the wiring diagram for that, but if it works the same way as other kawasakis of that age and you have no temperature readings then the wire has come off the sensor or its broken.

On the zx9 which has a similar display the sensor is on the back of number 2 cylinder, so it's probably worth looking in this area for it. Its normally just a push on clip connector. The wire has either come and is shorting to the engine or the wire is chaffed and shorting to earth.
