I like many of you good folks here, love road racing. The two tracks I have frequented are
Gratton Raceway and Gingerman. The ZX12R is of course not a zx6 but so what.
A 12 is a lot of fun. And since I have spare parts, I’m going to put together a dedicated track bike.

I picked up a salvage frame awhile ago. Beat up pretty good. Cracked in the middle.
So I had it stripped. I asked the guy not to sand blast it. He said no problem. He’d use something not so abrasive. But of course, he sandblasted it. Aggravating.

Bob at Daredevil Fab started by fixing the crack and welding up a mess for the battery cover boss. I shaped it and drill/tap the new hole.

No project would be complete unless you get a box from ScottDavisRacing! Lol

Frame at the Powdercoat shop. Still working on fairings. So shifted gears to the engine.

I checked the end gap high and low. They were identical. The end gaps needed no filing. All of them were at the small end of the specs in the manual. That was easy...lol.

How deep did you fill the water jackets and what did you end up using?
Devcon epoxy. I filled the block with salt. Left about 10-12mm from the top. Rinsed out the salt when cured. Way overkill for a 1287 na. Was going to put boost to this block at one point. Unless your really putting
Big power to one of these blocks, this is not necessary.

Lol
No, I welded that block up. Godzilla engine is done actually. But the 2871r turbo at 350hp is more than I will ever ever need. Riding a fast bike slow is embarrassing...lol.
So the 500hp dream is dead. That motor is actually going to be turned into this 1287.

I'm never going to go to the lengths you have cmg with a track bike, but at least I'll get a couple of ideas!

I'm thinking if simply removing non-essential parts (lights/indicators etc), and tracking it. But the options always remain open to other mods with your thread as inspiration.

It all depends on whether I bring myself to permanently de-registering and tracking the 12 or leaving the option of simple parts replacement for the road at any time. Interesting problem to have!
makes sense. Rid her of the non essentials, set up aggressive geometry/ great tires
and the 12 will fly!
