12Volt output, where?

Hi! I shall install a 12volts cig lighter female on my bike, on that I shall be able to connect GPS and an accelerometer to measure 1/4 mile times.

Where shall I take 12volt? which cable? Is there a "free" fuse somewhere?

Be glad for help, I don´t have a servicemanual with wiringdiagram here!?

Do you have a volt meter?? If so, just splice in anywhere you can find 12 volts (making sure that you splice BEFORE the fuse as not to draw too much apmerage through the fuse). You should be able to go to your local auto parts store and simply buy a fuse to put inline of the "lighter" that you are splicing in.

In your fuse box there is an open slot for accessories. One side is hot and the other has no wiring coming form it. You need to add the extra wire and fuse yourself but when finished you will have a 12v output with fuse and it won't interfere with any of your other stuff. Currently I am running a Radar Jammer and strobe lights and it doesn't pull more than 3 amps so judge your fuse size accordingly... Good luck.

This would be a good thread for a picture of the fuse box and a pointer to the accessories fuse that people can use.

Does anyone have the ability to take a pic, I can draw the graphics on the pic if you email it to me and let me know the fuse that people should use.

That would be great. I looked at the fuse box at one time, but didn't notice an accessory fuse. However I wasn't looking very hard. If you find the correct fuse, it would be great to somehow mark the hot side that someone would hook there detector or ?? to.

I hard wired in my Chatter Box and just spliced into the "third headlight" (that little light above the headlights) wiring. Was easy to get to (right behind the gauge cluster) and easy to hide the wiring.

I also "hard wired" my Chatter Box push-to-talk button into the 4-way emergency flashers. Works great and is a super clean install.

Any one else have some trick wiring they have done?

I'm wiring in a separate electrical system/fuse box. It has 3 key on circuits and 4 switched circuits. One pos wire from the battery to a 40amp automatic circuit breaker and from there to the unit. One ground from the battery to the unit and one keyed pos wire to the unit to energize the relay. I want to protect the stock loom from the N2O solenoid drain. Pictures of work in progress on the Yosh high mount thread.

Okay...here they are.

First, here is what it looks like all installed

This is what the inside of the handle bar assembly looks like.

And a close up of where I tapped into the "third headlight" for power to the Chatter box so that I never run out of battery.

And last, but not least, where I wired the yellow box in at the speed sensor.

The horn would be even easier, because you would not have to disassemble the switch. With the hazard switch, you have to disassemble the switch and remove a pin that makes the switch lock in either the open or closed position. No such problem with the horn switch. Just remove the wire going to the horn and solder on the push to talk wire!
