I emailed the powercommander guys and *shock* nothin came back sooo...

#1 can one guy buy a pcIIIr and install maps then lend it to his buddy to load maps into his ecu or is there an actual unit that must be plugged in series so it actually doesnt load a new map it just alters the stock one?

#2 does anyone have a dyno sheet to prove gains/losses on a factory (read extremely stock) bike before and after install?

disclaimer: After reading and searching the site i didnt find answers to these q's.

Donk, you must have the PC111R attached to your bike for it to work. The PC acts as a storage unit and tweaks the fuel and ignition information. You are not changing the information in the actual ECU.. you are conditioning the the fuel and ignition data before the bike actually processes it. If you were to remove the PC your bike would instantly revert to the factory defaults.

As far as any benefits to a totally stock 12, I personally think there would be none, or very little from adding the PC , other than the possibility of adding the ignition advance. But if this was all you ever planned on doing a simple ignition advancer would be considerably less expensive. But if you plan on adding an after market exhaust system the PC would be recommended.

I agree with Easy, After speaking with many people about this very topic, I have decided to order a PC for my bike, no other mod's. I want to smooth out the throttle response and remove that flat spot.

After riding a '01 with a simple power commander and no other mod's, it was a different bike and well worth the investment in my opinion.

I agree. Unless you are adding other elements to beef up the performance of your 12, a PCIIIr is just an expensive bit to brag about. Likewise adding a pipe without a PC is very expensive but won't yield the performance increase you are looking for. When combined however it is sweet harmony under throttle. I have been playing with the maps for a couple of months now and I'm convinced you need to get YOUR machine dynoed. Other maps work well for some but not all even with similar set-ups.

I would have to disagree a little here.

I found that I could dramatically improve the on/off response of the 12 which helped smooth out the power in the corners and made a huge difference to my riding (which needs all the help it can get, LOL).

If I only had a couple hundred bucks, I would think about getting a PCIIIr, however a full exhaust system is going to provide you some intimate time with your bike putting it on, along with something cool to look at and above all a major power boost with the sounds to go with it. But the PCIIIR really made a difference to my handling. The only question I have about what I did to the map is whether it is running to rich now, I need to get the A/F guage on it and check it out.

Easy, correct me if I am wrong here.. but didn't you have an Akro installed on your 12 for some time before you added the PC111R??

If this is correct, I am not surprised that the addition of a PC improved your bikes performance. Your bike was being fed data for a stock exhaust system, but the MAP for an Akro system is totally different.

As far as adding the PC111R to a totally stock 12, you might be able to tweak out a small increase in performance or driveability. But I would bet that the only way to find this magic spot is by having a Custom MAP built for your bike.

This all brings me to the cost factor... would it be worth $500 or possibly more to purchase the PC111R and the cost of the Custom MAP?? Well I guess that is something each owner must decide on his own...

I personally have both the Akro and the PC111R with a Custom MAP, and I am really glad I replaced the original exhaust system. The increase in power combined with the decrease in weight was definitely worth the cash <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">

First of all I have a Yoshimura EMS but in my ever so humble opinion a PCIII and the adjustable rotor would be a great addition to an otherwise totaly stock 12. My 12 when stock had a hesitation when accelerating through the 2,500-4,000 rpm area. The PCIII would lend itself to the set it and forget crowd to enhance performance. I would not reccomend it if someone was planning an exhaust upgrade down the road.

is way rich for the stock bike. The 3r will allow one to adjust the fuel leaner on top to free up a few or more ponies. As for the timing, its a easier way of installing an advancer, plus you can adjust it for the fuel you are running.

When i decide to get a box it will be the Yosh box and all the accessories. I like the clutchless upshift Piece and the shiftlight. This could all be done to a stock bike to enhance the performance and useful gadgets. It is kind of pricy but i think well worth the money. deffenetly if i get nitrous. the yosh. allows for 3 dif. maps at the touch of a button while riding down the road. there is a switch mounted by the controls. so if you want to flip on the nitrous map with richened fuel and retarted timing then go right ahead.......
