According to the US diagrams all the US 9's work exactly the same even the B, and even the 750 works the same.
So as I said earlier, if the bike will only start in neutral with the clutch out then there's a problem with the clutch switch.

just found the fix..(FOR THE STARTING PROBLEM) mine has been doing that for over a year i just fixed it in 1 min... pull in your clutch lever. on the bottom, is a button it pushes in, spray some wd40 into the button area.. push the button all the way in with a flat head screw driver while you hold the clutch lever to the grip, and let the button snap back out. repeat 5-10 times..mine started right up in gear after that..

I know this is a REALLY old thread but for some of us who are new to the forum these old ones help out. I had the same issue with my 98, I performed the same exact maintenance on the switch and everything works as it should. I love the search feature on forums. :thumbup:
