I dunno what they mean about transient acceleration. If they're suggesting that their sampling rate is too slow to handle a bike's acceleration, my cage is only a bit slower than the ZX, and the G-TECH works fine. Even if it can't be set to the low weight of a bike/rider, the rest of it like 0-60 and quarter-mile would still work. I'll have to give it a shot this weekend.
I have spoke with an engineer that works for a major maufaturer of off road vehicles. He stated that some years ago they purchased a g-tech and it gave false readings. They concluded the problem was that it is incapable of obtaining readings when the front of the vehicle rises to much during accellaration. An auto does not experiance much rise verses a cycle or other atv.
From his input I have concluded that a 5th wheel would be required to carry the g-tech to keep it on a level plane. It wouldn't be to hard to build such a device.
I never proceeded any further, but I think it would make a good winter project for someone. Ozzy.
Strange. I've got a high-perf Firebird (softwaregod.com/rebuild) and most of the guys I know with 10 second drag cars have soft enough shocks in the back to lift, or nearly lift, the front wheels. In the related Camaro/Firebird newsgroups, tons of people use the G-Tech (as do I), with the only complaint being it's slightly optimistic. Oh well... I'll try it this weekend on an M-stand and let you folks know whether it seems reasonable on 0-60 or quarter-mile times.
