Hello, I have a 2000 zx9r I have a yosh rs3 system curently, but I am selling it because from what I have studied from hours of online research and magazine tests, here are the three top exhuasts for our bikes in order. Ackropovic, Hindle, Muzzy. If where you live is like here everyone and there dog has a Muzzy pipe on their kawasaki. Dont get me wrong Muzzy rules, however they are not the Best for performance. www.kneedraggers.com has a full ackropovic exhaust for our bikes for $745 $8 dollars shipping. that is what I am getting.

aaiq,

I was wondering were you got your info from. I have seen dyno charts from 12 diffrent exhaust systems, the Muzzy and Hindle tie for highest HP and the Muzzy and Akra have nearly identical torque and their curves are nearly identical. This is all from a '99 issue of Sport Rider.

Weight Muzzy Ti was 4-5 lbs lighter than the Hindle and Akra. I got my Muzzy full Ti system for $800.00. The downside to the Muzzy is decible count, it is loud in the lower rpm range than most.

the only pipe that will net you big hp gains and give you a ton of midrange is the akrapovic since it is the only 4into 1 for a zx9.this pipe will smooth out some of the midrange glitches and vibration.it also is relatively quit with a deep tone.

No mid range glitches with my Muzzy, but tuning plays a roll in that.

I wish I would have keep the article, but sport rider last year did a side by side comparison on the the leading exhausts on the 2000 zx9r. akcropovic evolution full system got 4-6 more horse than the next competitor. Now I now what you are thinking Muzzy stuff is best for Kawi. This is a common misconception when it comes to exhaust. Now dont get me wrong I have a muzzy 998 kit on the way, and block offs and timming advancer............

good to see some zx9 people posting!!!

Thanks,

Maurice

I also have a 01' zx9r in which I'm looking for the best full system. I do a lot of drag racing so I'm looking for the best exhaust for that. I'm thinking the mid to upper hp range would really be my point of concern along with good torque curve.

My options are:

full ti muzzy

hindle

akra evolution

I have heard that for the money and performance hindle is the way to go. But I seem to see most 9's with Muzzy's and maybe a few with Akra's on them (probably do to the cost of the Akra's). I've heard that all of them will put out approx. the same hp give or take 1-2hp but the hindle will provide the best midrange power. Does anybody have dyno charts to compare the three.

In the past I had a 98 and a 99 zx9's one with a muzzy and the other with a Akra neither bike jetted or put on a dyno. But I can tell you guys that above 5-6k rpm the Akra pulled very hard. I had a stainless muzzy on the 98 which provided good horsepower across the range with a stumble down low as they all will becuase of not being jetted or tuned.

Muzzy is not the best for our Kawi's anymore.

If they were, then I don't think Team Kawasaki would have dumped them for Akropovic.

If you want to see the real numbers - then look to the guys putting them up. Team Kawasaki.

Well, here's my two cents...I had a Muzzy slip on with a Factory jet kit and all I could squeeze out of it on the dyno was 136RWHP. I finally put on a Hindle High-mount and after a lot of dyno runs I was able to get 141RWHP. The Hindle sounds great past 8k for sure....

I'm suprised nobody has mentioned Micron, My Micron pipe has doen me very well, granted it is on a 99 but I've seen dyno numbers on the 01 and the Hindle seemed to do best with that model. There is a Hindle slip on for sale on E-Bay that I am thinking about picking up to compare it on my 99 using my Micron Header, just for curiousity sake. Lee's performance is a nice site to check out, he does alot of dyno runs using different combinations, it's a cool site, it has the busa, the 12, 9R and gsxr1000's all with different mods and dyno slips to show. I just installed the full Akrapovic system with titanium can on my 2001 9R. All I can say is wow! I was a little skeptical, but now I'm a believer. A little quieter than other systems, but the power increase is incredible, and that's without jetting. Also, as is customary with Akra, the fit an finish are top notch. Hope this helps.

I just purchased a full Akro system with a carbon canister for my 01' 9r. The only reason I got it is because of the price I was going to get a Hindle. But I look forward to the performance gains from this system I know it will pull like a freight train when up in the rpms.

hello

the 4 pound titanium scorpion slip on is a good choice . its a titanium oval muffler and midpipe that weighs in at 4 pounds, no rejetting. its pretty funkin loud at 12000rpm but its a sweet loud. i paid only 190.00 on ebay ,now my 2001 zx9 feels like it will pull my arms out of the sockets , after 4000 rpm its like turning on a light switch, boom !!!!!,your gone .model ka61

My Akrapovic has covered 76,000 on this bike and another 13,000 on my 98 c1 i had before, no problems there, just 2 caustic soda decoke's, i had a muzzy on my zx6r it fell apart in under less than 10,000 miles at the welds. i f think that says it all , as well as 80% of the
World SuperBike teams and British Super bike teams use them as well.
The sound is unique !

I just put a full Muzzy on my 03. The initial quality appears to be excellent. The sound is awesome.

I should have dyno numbers in about two weeks or less. That will be the real test.

My Regards..... Dave

Wow, way to bring back a thread from the dead, guys!

Question... when you speak of Akra, are you talking about 'sport-production', 'race', or 'evolution'?

Their website sounds like 'sport-production' is good midrange gains; 'race' is good top-end gains, and 'evo' is probably good all over but I can't afford it.

If the Akra reviews above are of the 'sport-production', I'm interested.

If all these rave reviews are for the 'evo', then I'll assume 'sport' isn't much better than Hindle and lean towards that option.

Whaddya think?
