Anyone help me out. I am looking for new rubber for my 92 ZX-11. Would like to know what is the biggest back tire my bike will fit. 190-50-17? stock is 170-60-17. Any comments on manufacture. Thanks.

I'd go with a 180/55/17 it would work best on your ZX11 and handle better than a 170/60 or 190/50. But a 190/50/17 would fit on it. I love my new Bridgestone BT-016's on my ZX12r. 190/55/17 is what I have on it.

Thanks for the feedback. I ran the 180/55 on my first 11 and liked it. I have been looking at the Bridgestones. The BT-016 is a sport tire? I don't think I want a track tire. I was reading I think Bridgestone was coming out with a new DOT compound that is getting good reviews from the press.

The Bt-016 is the new street tire that is getting the good reviews. It has two compounds on the front tire (harder in the middle softer on the sides) and the rear has three compounds just softer on the sides for better traction. I like them alot- but I've also heard great things about the michelin pilot's too.

I'm not sure it would.

Sounds like Dave owns a C model which was sold with narrower rims, I think a 170 was fitted as standard, whereas the D model came with larger rims and a 180 OE which could be pushed to a 190, just.

Both ZX11 (C & D) have a 5½ in. wide rear rim. Stock tire is a 170 on C and 180 on D, probably because 180 were not available when C was introduced. 180 works good on a C but I would not go with a 190 on a C. Pretty sure a 190 works on a D though but handling will suffer slightly.

If its got a 5.5" rear wheel a 190/55/ZR17 will go on provided safely provided there is enough clearance in the front and sides. Heck Dunlop's new DOT Race Tire is that size and it is SPECIFICALLY made for 5.5" wheels. That being said for a street bike, I'd stick with a 180/55.

--- wide rubber on your rear ---

With two modifications you can shoehorn a 200/50/17 pirelli in the rear.

The tire is 209 mm across and 24.8 inches tall

if you can still find DYmag hollow magnesium wheels they're 6.25 wide

..if you like throttle whilst looking sideways at the horizon
