Hi all. Had braided hoses on most of my bikes . Question , do they really make much difference?

I would think it depends on how old and used your OE ones are and are they dirtying up your brake fluid.

I changed mine earlier this year after 45k+ miles, but I was stripping the calipers at the time, so thought I may as well fit new brake lines, so new fluid also. Pleased I did.

I don't think they make any difference !!! I measured mine with a digital micrometer and even with maximium braking the size of the stock hoses never moved a micron....0.001mm

Now that is some impressive multi-tasking; using a digital micrometer on your brake hoses while braking to maximum. Did you happen to video this as well. :lol:

it does do a difference under hard condition. OEM are actually braided also. but have a thick rubber lining inside. this lining is what gives under pressure. after some time this will also soften and flex even more. HEL and other braided lines have a minimum of these inner linings. and because of that you don't lose as much pressure in the lines. and you will have more pressure available at the caliper.
But normal usage it docent make any difference is my experience. when I go at it at for example the Nurburgring I have a better lever feel. again my opinion and experience:)

I've always used braided lines ever since 'back in the day' a rubber line burst while trying to brake my z650.

There was an opinion at the time that having no brakes didn't make much difference to the z650 riding experience, my budgie smugglers disagreed.:crackup:

I think LyhneDk is right, the benefit is under extreme, prolonged braking situations. I have them on my 12, along with Nissin radial calipers and zx14 radial MC. I noticed the difference on track days, apart from the obvious better braking with the caliper and MC setup, the brakes didn't fade by the end of the day as I have noticed on the OEM lines.

Cannot see stock hoses fading though ?...what can fade on a hose ?, it either works or it don't there is no variable which makes them change state during use....unless the fluid boils then they expand which I will bow down and admit defeat if that's true :nerd:

Point taken Mauser, just my thoughts on what I think is happening after several track days with both stock and braided lines. And I do concede this is in combination with the upgraded calipers and MC. My take on it is the constant high temp / high pressure use on a track after 1 or even 2 days of riding may have an affect on stock hoses more so than braided lines. If this means all the braided lines do is maintain good pressure at a higher fluid temp then fair enough.

I too am prepared to bow down to superior knowledge...I'll just check what's behind me when I do bow though!!
