I was reading through some past posts on how people setup their Chatterbox on their bikes.. Does anyone have any pics of their setup? I just ordered mine today and am now scratching my head in where to mount this thing..

Any information would be greatful...

thanks

I prefer mine attached to my helmet, that way it goes with me and the helmet instead of staying on the bike and there are no wires to disconnect when I take my helmet off. In fact my c-box stays on my helmet at all times until I'm giving it a thorough cleaning. I have the multisport with only 2 channels. Seems like having the c-box on the inner fairing like that would be a visual distraction when you need to adjust it for some reason. I can't see mine when I'm driving and all adjustments are done by feel so I keep my eyes on the road.

Range is excellent. Clarity is excellent. Works fine at high speed. There is one wire that goes from the helmet to the box. It has an extension so that it will reach. The puch to talk is wired into the emergency flasher button. The headphone/microphone is the stock one that comes with the unit.

I have 12 volt power hard wired to the chatter box so it never runs out of battery. Same with the minidisc player that is plugged into thet chatter box. The minidisc playeer/radio is mounted in the same place on the other side. this balances the weight out .

Adjsutments tot he Chatterbox? I have not had a need to adjust it once I have the VOX setting figured out. Otherwise, the only thing I have to do to it is turn it on and off, so there is no visual distraction.

As far as unpluuing when I get off of the bike....you got me there. I have too unplug the helmet from the wire that attaches to the box when I get off of the bike. Then of course I have to plug it back in when I get back on. It is not a big deal.

I like it better this way. There is less weight on the helmet, as well as less buffeting. Also the helmet remains balanced because there is not a weight hanging off of one side!

I have the X1 chatterbox, works ok at slow speeds, but the VOX is useless over 60, and voice clarity is difficult to make out over about 65mph.. I have it mounted to my helmet at this time, most likely will reisde within the tank bag.

As for power, i simply spliced into the "3rd" headlight harness. Range on the X1 (2 watts output) is great to say the least and the audio level to the headset's is deafening (sp?).

The X1 is their latest and greatest (or so they so). There is just too much wind hitting the microphone.

I am in the process of investigating some speakers / microphone that are "custom" for your ear's. They make a mold and use speakers from hearing aid's in the "ear buds", as well as they act as a microphone, thus eliminating wind noise..

I went riding with a BMW group today and few of them had this setup, very nice. One big addition was that the ear buds also acted as ear plugs, thus cutting out wind noise by 30db..

If you interested, i will keep you all posted as to what i find out.

Hhhmm that is interesting. I got one (FRS) for christmas. And I have it attached to my helmet. I've never thought of mounting it to my fairing. I would guess that you'd have wires leading from your helmet all the way down to the main unit??? Am I correct in saying so??? And being that I just got one... and haven't hooked up with anyone with one.... what kind of range and clarity do you get?
