I just replaced my clutch basket and used gasket maker instead of the gasket. My shifter if hard. took the cover back off to see what the issue was when cover is not on the shifter works fine. Question is the gasket a certain thickness to avoid a problem with the shifter rod or did I screw something up when the clutch basket exploded? I went through the engine and made sure all debris was cleaned out.

The cover has a pin cast into it. Prevents the shift shaft from sliding out. With out the gasket it could bind the shaft. Assuming all the other work that you’ve done is correct and per the manual.

Thank you. I did everything to the T. Except get the cover gasket. Thought the gasket maker was fine. Didnt leak but not thick enough. 🤦🏾‍♂️
