·I spoke with my dealer yesterday and he said Kawasaki did not want to cover the cost of the clutch. He said when he pulled the clutch apart some of the fibers were burned beyond recognition. Some were even deformed looking. He called Kawasaki back with what he found and after about ten minutes of haggling he explained to them that I didn't race the bike and took very good care of it. It all came down to one question from Kawi. "How does his tires look" the service manager stated that my tires look very good after about 1600 miles they look pretty much brand new.
Kawasaki said that they would "this time only" pay the cost to replace the complete clutch. I asked him about the Muzzy but the service mgr said that he was going to drill more holes in the basket, replace the zx12 springs with those of a zx9 and also re-fab a few other parts. He said once he's done the clutch will actually be up to par w/the muzzy or maybe even better.
So this one ends on a good note I think Kawasaki knew they needed to work on the clutch but just don't want to admit it. I have to say thanks to Derek in service at Kensington Motorsports for going to bat for me! And thanks to Kawasaki for doing the right thing.. Hopefully I will have my Girl back by Wednesday!
It's best to be presumed dumb than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt....</p>
