Hi guys,

Having real trouble here in the UK trying to find crash protectors\frame savers for my 12. Is there any place in the US that does them. As you may or not know I had a bad get off this year and did major damage. I have just had a new paint job so I really want to protect my baby as much as possible this time.

Thanks guys

hey!

Are you talking about sliders? I see them for sale for 200 cdn and i fell thats a MAJOR ripoff! Couldnt you make these out of nylon round stock? Exactly the same thing! But for a hell of a lot less. A few minutes on the phone to source out the stock would be the hardest part.

Targa has them. www.acctarga.com Wouldn't be seen with them though. Kinda like training wheels. So you laid it down. Take it like a man. I have also heard that they sometimes just breakoff when you go down unless you use better hardware than what they send you.

Speednuts,

Thanks for the info. Take it like a man you say. Well I have had 2 big get offs this year. One on black ice, result fractured wrist, fractured thumb and fractured arm. Second get off on virgin rubber, result fractured shoulder and three fractured ribs plus 3 hours of surgery. Total damage to bike £3000,00 ($4,500) all paid out of my own money.

I think thats taking it like a man

sounds like you need to find a new way to get off.. I normally put my stand down first... Then pull my leg over... Your just not supposed to get off while the bike is in motion I think it says it in the manual somewhere .......

Damn Dude! Sorry about the injuries. I didn't mean it that way. I meant if you lay the bike down just get new plastic. Eventually it gets so expensive you won't lay it down anymore. Worked for one of my buddies. Sounds like your injuries would make you start thinking about that. Ease up bubba. Stick around.

I know what your saying man. I`m not rich and the expense this year has really screwed me up. The weather here in England is not exactly tropical so unless you only want to use your bike a couple of months a year you just gotta go out in all the shit. Pissing rain, black Ice, fog, snow you name it. The thing is I love to ride hard and I`m always pushing it. All my mates have R1`s Blades, 996 etc, so I have to ride well especially in the twistie sections. Its all great fun but if I can save a few panels here and there when I hit the deck why Not?.

Take it easy

One reason frame protectors for the 12 are difficult to come by is because there is no good place to mount them (frame over top of engine) If you use the 2 central fairing mounts all you are mounting to are brackets and not to the frame. I'm not sure how well they would hold up in even a tipover.

yer best frame protectors are GOD, COMMON SENSE AND GOOD INSURANCE!!!! I know that some get-offs are unavoidable, but you can easily write-off a bike in just plastic alone. for some reason, guys think these little pegs mean you can crash like hell, then pick up the bike and keep going. I personally don't like them, I think that guys get a little too fearless with them, and try to ride like they are on a racetrack. Just use your head, save your money, your plastic, and maybe your life.

I have been thinking about crash protectors.

I am on my second zx12. just got a 2002 black / gold.

I own a Toolaking company and I think i have figured out

how to make a strong setup which will protect the bike.

I will be making them in the next few weeks and i will post the

results.

Forget about mushrooms on the fairing bolt this is a joke they are mounted on a little bracket.
