The first three are all geared to high.

17/46 is better...

Time to buy another sprocket

16/44 would be a good drag set-up and your cheapest way out

As always, these are just MHO...

I went back to the 16/44 becasue with the slick I got better traction which with the 16/46 meant more wheelies and since I lack skills and want to stay alive I switched back to 16/44///Longer wheelbase and less gear...

psycho12r Try the 17-46 Should get ya in the 9's with the strap. as close as you are already.

Forgot something too. You ask something here and you get idiot's like me posting to your thread.

psycho12r My best time on stock bike was 10.602 I've only done about 16 run's so don't listen to me.

I'm new at this crap, And my ego is bigger than my knowledge. I just know what I want it to do. But doing it is something different.

CrotchRocket sound's like he's done this before listen to him. I'm a newbie to the drag strip.

9's

Outlaw, I'll take sprockets with me and I'll change ém at the track
and see what happens? I ran the 17/44(strapped) yesterday and it
still reached for the sky! I'm not great at launches so I feel more
confident on the tall gears .The bike is fast enough to run a 9 ,but
am I?With the strap on and 18/44 combo I can use 100% throttle
in 1st,I know these gears will hinder my 60ft times ,but I think will
improve my 60-330ft time, just an idea ? I think with more experience
I will feel more confident using lower gearing,I'll see what happens on
the day and change sprockets.
I'll be leaving later on today as I have a 6hr drive(bike in van) to
the track!

If you're not breakin' the law you're not riding!!

Lower the ass down with $35 set of bones from spencercycle.com

Drop 1/2 sec in your 1/4 times...launch at 6000 steady, front end will not pop
up, but you will launch great...front end will rise about 5 inches as
1st gear winds out...hit second while in the air...it will hold but
not rise anymore....

Whip it good!!!

9.27 best time 151 through the trap

Lots of other stuff you can do...pry open the brake pads, no air filters,
be sure to lose all the weight you can...like tool kits, blinkers, chain
guard, etc...2 quarts low on oil...1/4 tank gas. lots of air pressure
in front tire (90lbs)...I run 16 in the rear, strap the front...WD40 the chain
and get all the grease off as it EATS hp...

Anyway, the drag section has all this...and more

Go kill a busa!!!!

with 2 quarts low...the pump still gets fed....nop loss of oil pressure,
just big resistance when the crank slaps all that oil...

As I started out, running the 17t in the front w. stock in the rear, along with the suspension mod's, made it a whole lot easier to get off the line.
I also found that filling the tank to the top, since you are at the track, go w/ some stinky stuff, along with laying your body on the tank at launch made things a whole lot easier, the better I get the less fuel I have in the tank... makes a difference IMHO. I Don't have my slips here with me but I can tell you that 10.10 has been my best time w. the set up and I know its me thats keeeping her from the 9's not the bike. I weigh in at 745-750
loaded and all motor, w/ D+D slip on being the only mod. all else is stock
heck, even teh air filters are still in there, but 238 has great suggestions
if you are going all the way. more later

238,
be real careful on this. 2 years ago, running with less than a full load of oil was touted as a good way to make a few more hp.

Since that time, several folks have experienced oil starvation and failure of big end rod bearings. The correlation of low oil and bearing failure isn't absolute, but no one I know is now running with less than a full charge of oil.

You obviously know your mechanical P's and Q's, but be careful running low oil ESPECIALLY when running 1/4 or doing extended wheelies as the oil gets pushed away from the pickup.
