It would be interesting to see what people think about *gasp* the stock pipe and can.

I had a Muzzy pipe, but couldn't stand all the surging, stuttering, fu**ed up idle, hard starting, and general crappyness in the low RPM range so I sold it on ebay. I tried map after map and even had it tuned by a pro on a DJ250. (Yes I had a PCIIIr - which may be for sale soon too!) I'm sure the Muzzy works great for you racers, but riding in the rain here in the pacific northwest you need smooth power - and the Muzzy doesn't deliver it. Plus it just really annoyed the crap out of me!

While I like the sound of the aftermarket exhausts, and who doesn't like a little more HP, I am really enjoying the 1000 rpm idle, the smooth power, and the easy starting. Perhaps, when I've recovered from the Muzzy financial reaming , I'll try the Acro. People seem to be more satisfied with it in terms of idle hunt and smoothness. Until them, I'm a stock pipe boy .

Wish I had a better, closer, more recent picture, but here is the "nickel" carbon fiber MICRON on my silver. The "nickel" matches the silver a little better than the black, in my opinion.

JM,

I think you'll like the Akro a lot better. I would keep that PC if I were you. If you do want to get rid of it, let me know, I'll take it off your hands. Obviously, I don't have a PC, but I do have the Akro pipe and I can run it at 1000 at idle no prob. It's kind of a bitch to get started, but I suspect it's from the timing advance. I think less advance at the bottom, maybe a little more fuel would help

Ok, no disrespect to any of you guys that chose any of the bolt on cans, but does anyone have a close up of the flange-to-can area. Most slip-ons seem to be much smaller in diameter than the stock can and the flange. Most pics of the bolt on look well, kinda mismatched....but I haven't seen a close-up.

Most of the people in the bolt-on posts seem very happy.

Well... I'm not looking to make enemies here (really, I'm NOT!!), but I've just gotta say that all the flange-on (slip-on or whatever you want to call them) mufflers look like crap on the 12R. There ARE bikes that flange-on/slip-on mufflers look good on, but the 12R isn't one of them!! To me they all look like cheap, poorly fitted add-ons. They all retain the ugly heat shield on the mid-pipe, they all go into a large diameter (stock) flange area and it looks like all of them do indeed go to a smaller muffler - whether it be round or oval. Many of them (like the Two Brothers that I've seen pictured) also have some kind of make-shift looking adapter mount to go from the passenger footpeg bracket to the muffler and (in the pics) it looks like the exhaust exit is hanging off the back of the bike (back behind the plastic fender?).

Hey, everyone can buy whatever they like - but after spending "the big bucks" for a 12R why would anyone settle for a cheap add-on muffler?? It just doesn't make much sense to me.

Please don't hate me!!! I'm only a messenger boy.

I really like being able to fast without drawing attention.A guy around here with a green 12 has a Muzzy, and I can hear him crackling a mile away. That's not exaggerating. It's like an explosion when he gets on the gas by my place.I've gone by here 80mph and the wife says she did'nt here me.And my 12 ,even bone stock,is very strong.I'm sure that side-by-side with a modded 12 I would see the difference. As long as I have to keep getting out of the throttle thru first and second to keep from looping,I'm very pleased just the way it is.Not that I'll NEVER screw with it........

fuckin' with it is the best part!!! I've got mine in pieces as I sit here and type this! That's what I love about these things, it seems like there is always something to do. I was looking for something else to do after doing the y2k mods. I highly recommend the y2k mods for anyone that doesn't want to drop $1000 on an exhaust, etc. They're the best bang for the buck mods out there

Red12....to each his own I guess. Like Tenn12, I also have a Two Bros can. Personally, I really like it. Will I someday have a full system? I'm sure I will, most likely Akro w/ cf can. I did not really feel like putting a full sytem on immediately following the purchase of my 12. At the same time I did not like the stock can at all. Too damn big, heavy, and quiet.

The Two Bros Ti can is extremely light, a little loud, but sounds great. Does it look as "perfect" as a full system? Maybe not, but it looks a hell of a lot better than the stock boat anchor can! Removing the cat along w/ the addition of the can definitely gave a nice little boost to hp as well. Do I have dyno #'s to back this up.....nope. Doesn't matter, bottom line, it's MY BIKE and I happen to like it. After all, that's what really matters right?

BTW Red12, what kind of exhaust system do YOU have? Since you have one of the slow red models, guess you need a "full sytem" just to keep up w/ a silver w/ stock exhaust.

Richard, I'm ignoring your Booger Green ass!

Richard, me mean.....never

Ask some of the Kawa engineers man. They can tell you about the anti-gravitational properties of the silver paint, also has some of the same characteristics as the Stealth Fighter.

The green paint on the other hand, is the very old "lead paint". Heavy and slow. Why do you think King needed NOS to get that bike moving?

How did we get from exhaust systems to this again?

Here is at least a semi close up and an overall shot. I see what you're talking about, the can is a smaller diameter than the stock one so the trim ring appears larger. Never really noticed and it doesn't bother me. I think about the only people that would even notice are fellow 12 owners w/ full systems.

I'm thinking that I'm going to be removing the decals on mine...The more I look at Ninja Dude's bike, the more I like the no-decal look. Looks clean...
