Advice please guys. Just doing a complete rear end strip down and clean/polish and want to fit a 5mm or so spacer to the shock to raise ride height as many seem to have successfully done on here. Removed the rubber top nut cover and split pin and started loosening the nut so I can slip u shaped (cut washers) under the mount but the forward under tray is in the way, how are you guys getting the washers in? I have dropped wheel out btw so plenty of access.

I did do a picture guide for this but the site I uploaded them to has been down for a couple of years now.
If I remember right I could only undo one of the screws for that tray but it was enough to give me that little bit of room I needed.
I'll have to have a look around and see if I still have the pictures on a sub drive but I don't think I still have them.

Hi Mark, you could alway fit shorter dog bones off ebay.
Theres a UK manufacturer on there. Last set I bought were, about £20.
Not sure if id want u shaped washers under my ass :)
I found a little height in the rear of my A1 increased handling turn in nicely along with a slight drop in the tree .

Thanks for the replies 'yorkie and Dave, I think I am going to drop the shock and fit a 6mm spacer I kept when I returned my TL 1000r back to stock a while back before trading in. Looking at the swing arm, I'm probably going to remove and powder coat, will have to order the special fittings for my Abba stand to allow dismantling.

Seems I lost the pictures and how to, when my hard drive packed in.

Even with the stock exhaust system there was enough room to put 2x 5mm washers under the top rear shock mounting without the exhaust touching the swingarm.

No special fittings needed to do the rear arm; flip the foot pegs upside down and you can put stands under them to support bike.
Good idea texlurch.
I use my engine crane through the rear pegs or suspend from the large beam in my workshop roof with a ratchet strap.
which allows lots of access clearance.

Those abba stands are nice mind .... :)

hi you can lift the tank and support it then loosen the rear shock nut slightly more then the thicknes of the washer . Then use the side stand and tilt the bike toward on its side to unload the rear suspension enough to slip the fender washer from below the frame on the shock. that's how I did it

Abba supply adaptors to allow the abba stand to use the foot rest mounts as a lifting point rather than the the swing arm pivot, you then have full access to the swing arm nut etc
I thought that's what you meant, but there only used for removing the swingarm, you don't need them for putting washers under the shock mounting. Though I do remember removing the shock was a bit of a krypton factor.
