I'm not starting this post to do any bashing, I'm just curious about the type of helmet worn by 99.9% of all Harley riders. Around here in south florida, helmets aren't mandatory, but almost all the sportbike riders wear 'em anyway (full face). But everytime I see a harley in traffic, if its rider is wearing a helmet....it's an open face helmet, or worse, a "brain bucket". I know that a few of the guys on this list ride Hogs and/or other cruisers in addition to owning their ZX12R. Now I'm assuming that everyone here who wears a helmet on their 12R, uses a full face helmet. But what about when you're on your Hog? Do you then shirk safety and wear a brain bucket to look cooler, or do you embrace safety and wear a full face, thereby setting yourself up for public ridicule from other hog riders you may encounter while riding?

good question and shouldn't be took the wrong way. I personaly had a cruiser and would still wear a full face helmet. The cruiser crowd would pick on my choice of lids but hey...it's my head I am protecting.
I have asked many riders about that and around 75% of them said it wouldn't be riding if the wind wasn't in there hair. The other 25% just think they look cool without a lid.
So my opinion, and just an opinion, is if your into motorcycling and really understand the dangers( not just zoom splat bikes) then you will wear the propper riing gear.

I ride a Honda VTX, and wear a full face.

Shoei X-SP II.........Black. Enough vents to keep it from fogging up, or getting to hot. I don't care what you are doing, what kind of bike you are riding, or how fast. You only get one brain. The thought of my mom cleaning out my diapers for the rest of my life, and my wife feeding me is enough for me to put a good helmet on.

Just sold my 2002 Road King (what a POS!). I wore a full face helmet when I rode...Sure I took loads of shit for it, but I just considered the average intelligence of the Hardley riders I know and continued to wear my full lid(most harley riders around here are the load mouth type that are overextended on their harley payments).

I am going to catch hell for this, but sometimes I go without. I don't really ride with any Harley guys, but when I cruise around in my "corn fields" I leave it at home. Not to be a hypocrite, I do have 2 types of insurance to cover my stupid ass in case of a mishap. My father is a true 1%er and he hates the fact that I have a ZX-12R and a Beemer, but some of his bad habits are still with me. I remember riding to Sturgis as a kid, sans helmet. I also remember my Dad stopping along the way to have a couple with friends, with me on the back. Funny how things change.

i tend to ride fast..... most of the time

no flip-flops..... t shirts or jeans either

i'm not a dyed in the wool HD rider
they have lead the fight against helmet laws

cant say i totally agree with them
still if youare at myrtle beach.......no helmets
mny sport bike riders then remove them.......
act like idiots & fools on bikes much faster than HD's

many end up in the hospital
makes less sense than the HD riders wearing buckets
