Has anyone heard if the front Snorkel on 2002 ZX12 will fit the others?????? I think it would look good on a Green one!!!! Hopefully mine........Richard

·couldn't say for sure just looking at the pics, but it MAY actually fit. I'd say the speedo bracket is gonna be what determines the fit.

I figured out why the green ones are the fastest..... Nothing can stand to be around them not even air thus making it faster!!!!! Hahaha Hopefully I get it back tomorrow local shop are closed on Mondays.............Richard

Just remember guys, even if it does fit, Kaw did extensive testing in the wind tunnel on the ZX12 WE HAVE and the engineers fought and beat the advertising people who wanted to tone it down because in the wind tunnel the snorkel we have produced the absolute peak h.p.
There is a link which I have talked about before, in which the key people who designed the ZX12 let us inside their heads.
Check it out. Since we all seemed to be concerned with 1 hp here, 2 there, it would be a shame to loose 1, 2 or more just to change the look of the snorkel....

I haven't read anything about more extensive aerodynamic testing done on the '02's, just aesthetic changes, functional or not

Here's the para re the snorkel's efficiency:
"Of course, the new projecting Ram Air intake duct is what everyone notices first. Actually, in the early designs, the Ram Air duct was flush with the fairing. But wind tunnel tests revealed that Ram Air intake efficiency is highest when the Ram Air intake is located forward in undisturbed air, at the centre of greatest pressure. When we moved it off to the side, or behind the headlight there was a noticeable performance drop. And the more we worked with this positioning, the more we liked the way it looked from the front. I personally now think it looks really cool, a unique feature of this bike."
The new snorkel will flow more air possibly increasing power lower down due but it's pressurisation may not be as high with the position so top end power may be compromised a little. The difference will not be that noticable anyway.

·If you remember way back, it was reported in one of the aero tests that the snorkel sticking out like that hurt the flow round the front of the fairing. The guys questioned why it was there in the first place and not flush with the fairing. Obviously the inbred twats totally forgot about ram air when writing the article.
Kawaski went for power over the small negative effect on aerodynamics. The gains achieved with the snorkel sticking out like that outweighed the aero loss.
The beauty of it is, Easy, that we, as owners of the monster snorkel, still get the extra airflow the new 02 snorkel affords AND the pressurisation gains of having the snorkel in front of the fairing. We gain in the midrange (air flow) and the top end (ram air).
The more I think about what K was trying to achieve with the snorkel and what they have done to the 02 when top end power is not so paramount, I think the Monster IS undoubtedly the way to go to maximise both.

The monster is definitely an awesome addition to the bike. If it was a car you wouldn't think twice replacing the intake manifold along with headers, this is the same thing but nicer.
But I think I will stick with my 00 for now, I think it has the chance of being a collector some day.
