Fuel additives ?

Anyone use them and are they necessary ? I'm not looking at the additives as a performance enhancer, but wondering if they are necessary to keep the injection pump healthy, assuming it's lubricated with fuel, right ? I did a search and came up empty.

Thanks for the replies, good info. I wasn't speaking of octane boost, just curious if the injection pump would benefit from some sort of lubricity. Guess I gotta loose the diesel mindset that's ingrained <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/eyes.gif ALT=":rolleyes"> . We use Stanadyne PF, among others, to help the injection pumps stay healthy in the CTD's.
