just got a 99 zx7r in silver with 31k on the clock for the mrs as she is leaning to ride and at 6ft she's no shortie :rotflmao: so a 6 or below would be to small, it had very little service history so thought i would do a full service inc valve clearances and sort the carbs out as it fires up without chock and seems to be running rich, found a k and n filter nestled in the air box  and with the stubby can i thought carbs would of been dynojetted but unfortunately not  so need to sort that aswell, but as soon as i mentioned a jet kit gives more power it was a definite no so got to tune it some other way.
whats everyone running in there carbs with mods etc hers are 170,180,180,170 mains mixture screws were 4 turns out (sure they should be around 2) pilot jet 35 and standard needles (N140) float at 14mm

It's been a while since i worked on carbs but if I remember correct the outter bowls should have the larger needles because they are kinda starved for gas compared to the middle 2 ...if it has a air box do some research about drilling holes in the top to allow more air to be be sucked in...helps if your running rich...get a good pair of sync gauged to sync everything when your done.

did the valve clearences and the kleen air and float bowl mod still got standard needles pilot screws are 2 turns out floats at 14mm and 155 main jets and seems alot better got a flat spot at 9k though and good low and mid range. screams like a banshee :)
it now starts cold on half choke but soon as full choke is used then it cuts out so slight fettle there to do
gets up to 120 ok but seems to struggle above that most is 140, not sure what these are like as im used to a 12 but thought it should be good for 160 ????
