My headlight fuse (under the ash tray) blows when the high beams are on. It doesn't always happen right away but with in 2min. Low beam never blows the fuse. Any ideas or should I just start tracing wires?

I would try using a high quality vom to test resistance on both bulbs out of the bike.If both measure the same i doubt you have 2 bad bulbs but you could still replace them both and find out either way. Also if the sockets have corrosion in them spray a good contact cleaner in them.If real bad you might have to replace the sockets and bulbs. The relay might be bad or the high beam switch might need cleaning or replacing.High resistance is your enemy on a problem like this.....

Check you don't have any broken/chaffed wires causing a short where the cable twist across the headstock area....you know where the bars move back and forth and the wiring is doing the same.

The black tin cover at the top of the fuel tank with the indentation is kinda known in the zx12 world at the ''ash tray''
