I cant believe what I did to my 2002 Candy Blue 12 with only 1250 miles on her!!!

I go to Englishtown RacewayPark for DragRacing, cloudy and an occasional mist of rain...Not enough to make the ground wet... Anyway, I get the '02 inspected for the evenings Race get set up and a 1/2 hour later line up to take a pass...

I'm last in line, ride through the water and start my burnout, a nice one to heat up the tire!!!...I let the front brake out to roll out the burnout, then aply the brake to stop for my dryhop...Yeah I stopped alright, stopped the front wheel from moving and the front slid out and fell on its right side...I tried to prevent it from going down but it was at the point of no return!!!...So the 12 dropped to the ground, I'll tell you guys I was cursing up a storm, I said every curse word there is!!!...Didnt even care who saw, just pissed off at myself for letting the bike fall!!!

I pick the bike up and look at the right side and cant believe that NOTHING BROKE!!!...Just a few scrates on and under the ZX12r sticker and scratches on the clutch cover, thats the extent of the damage!!!...I couldnt believe it!!!

OK, so it wouldnt start after the fall, as I was trying to start it the FI light was blinking, so I shut it off waited a minute and it started right up!!!...I back into the water this time and move up and do my burn out again!!!...Dryhop, trip the 1st. pair of staging lights set my rpms at a steady 3500, roll up and trip the 2nd. pair of lights...Lights come down i go on the last yellow and here is what happend when I got my time slip...

I guess I cant be so upset that I dropped the 12, I ran my BEST RUN EVER!!!... Then it started to rain and they called the day and gave us a rain check!!!...I leave with my buddy and its misty rain, as we are almost home it clears up and the sun is coming out...It was one hell of a day!!!

Bummer to hear of your mishap. Having dropped mine a few weeks ago, I can relate to the cussing. I called on all my years of cuss training (as a sailor). Glad you ended up with less damage than me.

CR you never ride though water with front tire, You ride around it and back into water.

I have not done any burnout's at track. I do dry hop's. They treat the track so well. It's not needed. I'd like a little wheel spin just to keep the front end down. But track is too sticky.



If Jessie Jame's had a ZX12R I'd ride with him.

Ya dont need water with a street tire anyway. Just burn the hell out of it, or clean it off a little depending on good the track is and off ya go. U can watch bikes and cars that have been in the water box when they get up to the line. Water runs off the tire or falls off the car right onto the starting line.

Sorry to hear it Crotch. Good run, the tip over sensor that shuts down the bike, requires you to cycle the ignition off and on once to reset itself.

Sorry to here.... Forget the water let the horsepower go to work.... Don't go in the water.... My Corvette I learned that the first time i took it to the track....

If her eyes aren't crossed and one eye lid flapping like a hummingbird wing your not quite there yet...</p>

Thanks for the support guys!!!...What can ya do, Shit Happens!!!...Its not the first time and it wont be the last, I am grateful that I dropped it while barley moving and not while going fast!!!

As for the water box, been through it 100s of times...Yep, its bound to happend!!!...Well i'll be backing into the box now...

I've hit the brake's pretty hard CR, For some dumb reason I don't want to go past light's and I ve been On the front binder's hard. And If I had been strapped with no travel, I could have very easly went down. I'm glad you shared this. So when I do strap I know to be carefull.
