I'm moving half way accross the country and I sure as hell ain't riding my bike the distance. Any suggestions for the best way to get her there. Uhaul only does local rentals for motorcycle trailers and I don't have a pickup. Is there a good cycle shipping company or should I just go with trailering the bike somehow. Any thoughts?.....

Two suggestions:

1. Buyt a trailer hitch and 4x8 trailer aprox cost. 500-700

2. Have it shipped. aprox cost 400 -5000

You can call shippingmasters.com and they will hook you up I have used them for bikes that I have sold and bought in the past. However I would recommend buying a small trailer and hitch because at least you can use them again.

I just moved from Kansas City to southern Cal. I rented a Uhaul and put my bike all th way in the front. I tied it down, removed the mirrors, put a blanket over it and put a mattress on each side of it, I put everything else in and moved. The bike arrived perfectly.

I am the one that posted this question....but here's what I'm gonna do. I went to the pre-delivery dept. at my motorcycle shop and got the manager to sell me a crate. It's actually an aluminum cycle palate. I have to take off the mirror and the windshield, then it fastens into the palate with no tie downs. Totally sweet!! I told the guy I would give him a little extra cash to do it for me and then fork lift it into the back of the Uhaul.
