But I do have two kids, and with kids come PS2's. So I went to Wallyworld and bought a copy of Moto GP2, pretty cool. You can wheelie in 1st, set the weather and choose your course. There's no 12's on the software, but it still ain't a bad fix. I'm 39, if I can admit to playing a game on the Playstaion, surely some of you youngsters are gamers. They are coming out with a new one for the PS2 in early September, called Riding Spirits. Looks even better.

Isuzu... YIKES !!! Big negative. The new Duramax diesel is made by Isuzu I believe. LOL at the stump pulling, that comes pretty easy with almost 1000 Ft. Lbs. of TQ !

The Cummins in my truck started life as a 24 valve HO ( high output) design. Stock it was rated 245 HP (BHP) and 505 TQ. That only lasted for about the first 2,000 miles, just to make sure I got a keeper ( there's no break in with diesels, 'cept for no constant rpms for the first few hundred miles. Hook 'em up to something heavy and pull the living daylights outta it right off the dealers lot).

If Denver's dad got a Dodge with a diesel, it's a Cummins. If he got a Ford it's a Powerstroke and the Cheby is a Duramax.

I'm getting the bike on this Thursday, come rain or shine.

You know I'm getting desperate when I have to resort to video games and actually believe they are life like.

Hey saint, go find a couple of large stumps to pull out of the ground with your hipo Cummins, that should keep your mind of the bike for awhile.. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">

450 hp? ouch. who did I hear Isuzu or someone teamed up with Cummins on that motor in the last couple of years to really up the hp from what is was several years back?

I think DenverYZF's dad just bought a new one, haven't seen it yet....

I thought I had heard that Isuzu or Mitsubisihi or somebody collaborated on the new Dodge Cummins diesel.

I think Denver said the Ford Powerstroke is made by International.

Remember the old days when a Chevy was made by Chevrolet???

Hey Bigsaint, do you know anything about that Isuzu engine in the Chevy's? I haven't heard much bad about them. I know Cummings is famous for their diesels, but not a big mopar man myself (except for those old hemi cudas!). I'm probably most interested in the Fords, but got one of them GM credit cards with a lot of $'s racked up. Guess what I'm asking is... how's that Isuzu engine compare?

Hey Vinnie, here's what I know, all second hand mind you.

The Duramax is a fast motor off the line when empty, but not so great if you plan on pulling a heavy load ( by heavy I mean over 10,000 lbs). They are apparently more high revving than the Cummins, which doesn't help much when towing as all the TQ with a diesel is down low in the rpm range.

You can get the Allison auto trans. in the Duramax, which is pretty tough for a stock setup. I don't know how well they hold up to extreme hp mods, but I'll guess they need to upgrade the trans. to hold the power without slippage, as the Mopar guys do with the Cummins.

I have a friend that has a Duramax, he loves it but it never tows more than a few sleds with it during the winter. He did lose his injection pump once, which was covered under warranty. His truck is stock as to the engine.

There's been talk regarding problems with the aluminum head in the Duramax giving problems, not sure on that one.

Best bet is to check out a Duramax discussion forum, such as this one www.diesel-central.com/Forums/ and see what the real owners have to say.

I think it's a pretty solid truck/engine if you are going to tow light. If you are looking to haul a 15,000 lb 5th wheel, I'd get the Cummins or Powerstroke.

Hope I helped !
