Kawasaki Clutch Failures/Recall

After seeing how many signatures were affixed to the Petition to send to Kawasaki in connection with numerous clutch failures, I have volunteered my services to draft a letter to the manufacturer in an effort to get them to reconsider their position on the ZX12R clutch warrantee claims. Really, there's no reason why the clutch should be failing so often on the 2000 & 2001 machines. Kawasaki has known about the clutch issue--that's why the 2002 basket has been redesigned. In the very least I would like to see Kwak authorize dealers to retro-fit a new part to avoid the premature failures. Unfortunately, sending a Petition really has no legal effect. Kawasaki doesn't even have to answer it. Accordingly, I would like (for those who are interested) either to post or to e-mail me your detailed experience with the clutch failure(s). Please include the following--if applicable: Where you purchased your bike (State, Country, etc.), Model year, new or used, when your clutch failed (in miles and months after purchase), description of the failure(s), your dealer's remedy, your dealer's attitude, cost of repairs, parts replaced, how long your bike was down for repairs, whether you race, ride recreationally, or both, performance modifications, oil used, and any other info that you feel may be helpful. I'll need your real name and e-mail address. Best of all, there's no cost to you. I'll e-mail a copy of any proposed correspondence to you PRIOR to sending anything to Kawasaki. That way, you'll have the opportunity to remove your name from the letter if you don't agree with its contents. My e-mail is: [email protected].

Now seriously Nublu02, how many guys do you think are going to admit they drag race the bike if they want KAW to replace the clutch?

Also, why the interest if you own an '02?
