i was wondering how much miles can i get out of a zx-12 motor. a friend of mine with a 2k zx-9 blew him motor @ 21000 miles. he threw his 4th rod. the rod busted a hole in the block. this was a well serviced motor. i heard you can get about 18000 out of a kaw motor before it detonates. is this true?

hom much miles do you have on your bike?

One of the bike magazines did a tear down of a ZX9 last year. Seems the bike had 40,000 miles or so. They were quite impressed with the lack of wear and tear. I'll see if I can find the article, scan it and post.

I also remember another article about a CBR900 turning 200,000 miles. He had replaced body parts from two crashes but no major probs with the drive train.

I can confirm what jp said above. OKD has > 52k miles on his, and he does NOT baby it. The bike still runs like a scalded rabbit....

I firmly believe these engines will outlast most other brands. These things are tested on the track and designed to run hard. Change the oil every couple thousand, and ride the thing into the ground!!!

My 01 silver had just over 16,000 miles, and it was getting stronger every day.
My 02 PMB, has 4,000 miles now.

I'D RIDE A HARLEY DAVIDSON
BUT I CAN'T PULL THE TRAILER
WITH MY KAWASAKI!!

I know this broad, she's got all kinds of mileage on her, and still going strong. And she's often ridden hard and put away wet! Does that count?
