Approx. 9am this morning.. On I-40 west bound around mile marker 278....HD riding officer was attempting to pull over a Burgundy Toyota with a with male driving, When the car ran him off road or just hit him {not sure about this one}... Car kept going... at this point he is still at large...

Officer was later pronounced dead...

Sad day indeed....

Facts:

Officer was chasing a speeder who was dodging in and out of trafiic, when the officer tried to go around a 18 wheeler and got thrown off balance by the draft, he was pushed [by wind]onto the left shoulder where he encountered some debris and went down...

Earlier reports stating he was ran off the road were FALSE!!
Speeder did get away....
