Nice Rich, I like the newbie....

Hey, how'd you like that $20 clutch cover gasket? Rip-off city or what???

Also, did your clutch pivot shaft have a washer on top of the seal, below the spring?

I used the old gasket from Daytona.... Sealed fine. When I put it on I put it on shiney side towards motor so gasket would stick to housing and not motor... Pulled right off with the housing no scraping or nothing.... Also I never took the clutch pivot shaft out.... Thats the gasket the Kawi guys gave me when housing cracked.......

The rest....... Muzzy hub drilled with oiling holes inside....

Well, I do NOT like oil leaks, so I errored on the side of $20 for a new one.

Has everybody pretty much reused these clutch cover gaskets with good results?

Yes, I saved my old one because it looked fine.

I have reused gaskets many times.... Depending on how hard to get to, to replace it....

In major emergencys I have used a cereal box...... Mostly off road with the cereal boxs though...

Sorry pics so big but wanted to be able to see the oiling holes.......

That's understandable.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)"> Yes, I reused the stock gasket on mine when I

changed the spring's. I would use the same gasket again if I had too.

Stupid hurts.</p>
I prefer new but didn't want to wait.... If it drips 1 times its histoy and I'll order a new one and throw it on....

And I even made one horn disappear today.... Weight man weight................

Is that a '63 Galaxie hood under the clutch? (I'm serious)

"Here, hold my trophy while I kiss your girlfriend...."</p>
The white????? Thats a truck tool box.... Funny though I love 63 Galaxys.... I had a True candy apple red over gold base convertable. House of Kolors paint...We put a 429 in it though... And at one time had a tunnel ram with dual fours.. I'll look for some pics... Also have right now a 410 mercury motor with 6 two barrels on it.... Looking for another good Galaxy or 64 only fairlane to put it in... Rust free.... Of course....

Nice pics Richard!

The clutch looks like an exceptionally well engineered bit of kit. Lets us know how it goes, if it can stand the Nos it'll take anything else that's thrown at it!

What's your assessmemt of the fiber and steel plates/rings??? To me the steels look discolored (blued and scorched) but the fibers look like they are not that worn and may still have a little life left in them. Just wondering because I'm trying to learn how to evaluated the clutch components. AdditionallyI thought the additional oil holes were drilled into the clutch basket and not the hub. Are there any additional holes in the basket to help get oil from the case to the plates??

BMW, as I recall, the basket itself had no extra holes on the outside viewing area for extra oil flow. The Hub certainly does, as the pictures show, but also the 'hub bearing' that would be right in the middle had either an extra oiling hole, or it was enlarged. ( I remember there being two of them, 180 degrees apart from each other I thought.....)

Sorry aighn't got no pic's fer ya......

Are the oil holes size staggered large to small from the inside - out, or are my eyes deceiving me???
