Need an advice from you guys, considering to purchice a bike

I'm in Toronto and wanna buy a bike...so give me an advice...should i buy brand new bike? Or 2000-2001 model? Is there any difference? Just give me any good advice!!<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">
