I am taking my 1270 apart and thinking of rebuilding it using the 87mm muzzys block that i have, the pistons i got whit the 87mm when i bought it (used) are not in the best shape and they are of the cut down type from JE

my question is which pistons should i buy for the build and where do I get them at the best price

PS The bike is used for dragracing only

thanks for reading

The previous owner of Shanes 1427 did several experiments with 87mm pistons and a 4.6mm stroker crank. His last few sets of JEs were based on a busa forging, and were much stronger. better wear ect. You could probly get that information and get an exact copy of those pistons made. I hear great things about CP and Wossner also.

that would be a great help to get the info from someone who has tried several different piston designs in the muzzy block
I also have heard good things about wossner pistons

i do have a 4.6mm welded crank from muzzys also but i am currently running a 6.2 index class and my PB is 5.9 with the 1270 (app. 3 inches over)
the next class would be 5.5 so my plan was to build the 1317 make the arm longer and let it rev a bit higher and see if it would do the job

I was going to suggest keeping it at 4mm or less, and offsetting the journals to match the bores.

maybe i should just go "all in" and build the 1427 and then find out what class i should drive in
by the way your turbo build looks awesome

the offsetting of the journals would be nice but i have had the crank for years in my garage
and there is a guy from sweden who has made a 1427 that has been racing for years whitout problems (its a billet crank but the journals are not offset)
so i hope that i can make it work also if i build the 1427

thank you

what sort of head and cam package were you thinking of?
i have a ported head and some cams from a european company called Grossewächter IN (dur 317.8) (lift 9.49mm)
EX (dur 305) (lift 9.55mm)

I have had this on my 1270 and it made 191 rwhp with a muzzys sidewinder
