I just installed my PC3R this weekend...was currious where you all have them mounted & if you have any good ideas on how to create a water / weather shield and a protector so the buttons don't get depressed in the trunk????

I mounted mine in the trunk - mounted on the "tank" side of the trunk - facing the rear of the bike...mounted w/velcro so I can move / remove if needed.

Thanks, Cookin

Cookin' I put mine on the right side of the "trunk".

The only thing I'm still pissing and moaning about is having to run the power wire outside the frame onto the positive battery screw. This has GOT to be drilled or hidden better.

So far. no problems except my mini-Inflate-a-Tire and the controller have tried to have babies.

No matter how far I put them apart, they keep coming together... Love, you can't keep it apart.

Hand me a tissue...I'm shedding some tears - you are way to lovey dovey for me.

I'm kind of pissed about the external wire too...looks like an "afterthought".

Well gotta run, I'm drawing a bath with roses, poured some great wine - going to read a romance novel, then watch Pretty Woman before I got to bed. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/laugh.gif ALT=":lol"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

I pulled my trunk out and theres a great space under the trunk. That way you still have all your trunk space........ (NO DRILLING INVOLVED) It worked out great....

Still wondering what you guys are talking about on the PCIIIr wiring!

You've got the two large multi-pin connectors that connect the PCIIIr in series with your factory ECM and fuel injection. [Shouldn't be any question about what to do with those!] Then there are two small connectors that connect the Power Commander in with the rear brake light switch. Lastly, there is a single wire with a ring terminal on it that gets connected to ground - I secured mine with the rear brake reservoir attachment bolt to the frame.

What the heck is this wire that is getting connected to the positive side of the battery??

I am assuming they are talking about the same "Red" connector. I have a PC111R and the only power connector is the one that attaches to the rear light.

I guess my only complaint is that the wire is not Silver. That would make it better...don't you agree <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

Actually Red I think we wrote possitive but meant negative...I can't remember now which one I hooked up...I followed the directions (at 2AM) and am too lazy to pull the directions out tonight - I think you are correct though. The extra wire connects to the negative battery post.

OK... that makes sense. Why not just attach that wire with the rear brake reservoir bolt like I did? The ring terminal that came pre-attached to the wire is the perfect size and it makes just as good of a ground path as going directly to the battery! [At least it checked out as good with my Fluke 87.]

Red, Thank You a million times over for this.

When I was going over my install instructions, I thought WTF? I gotta run this to the battery negative?

I was tempted to put it to another closer ground, but that little voice in the back of my head said "Dude, they specifically say the battery ground" so I did.

I'm going to change that the next time I do maintenance.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Yeah... the installation instructions that came with my PCIIIr didn't show or even mention that ground wire. Had to scratch my head and look around on the bike for a little while to find a good place to connect it to! My guess is that is where they really intended for it to be connected?? I dunno!
