That's Baxter, 195 lbs. of love and poop. They wont eat you outta house and home, though the vet bills can get real steep because any medicine, heartworm, etc., is bought by the dogs weight. Baxter eats 2.5 cups X 2 ( 5 cups) of dry food per day. My female Saint eats 2 cups X 2 ( 4 cups) of dry food per day. Equals out to about 80 lbs. of dry food per month. My dogs do well on Nutros lamb and rice, which is about $34.00 per 40 lbs/ about $80.00 per month. When they were puppies they both were feed large breed Eukanunba, that gets real expensive, but they don't stay on it long.
They are great around children. I have 2 daughters, 8 and 5. The Saints are gentle giants, especially with the kids. Not good watch dogs, all the bad guy would need is a couple of milk bones to win them over.
They also have a very short life expectancey, about 10 years is doing real good for a Saint. I wouldn't own 2 at once again as it's just too much work, between them and the kids. One Saint would be a pleasure. Don't hesistate if you really want one. Pick a reputable breeder that has good references. No pet stores. Ask away if you have more questions and I'll do my best. I have had my dogs for about 5 years now.
