They have to dissipate heat as part of there normal function hence the reason most manufactures try to sit them on as big a heat sink as possible additionally most have Fins to assist in heat transfer to atmosphere.

Cheers mate I was worried about how hot it was and the wires coming from the stator

Hi Jason,
No that plug is not OEM it's something a Previous owner had added.
Those wires that it connected are the 3 Phases from the Stator and should all be Yellow, It matters not which one connects to those on the Loom hence all the same colour so stop Fretting (y)
The OEM connector for those 3 Yellows is the same as the other one from the Reg/Rect, The reason someone tried to improve the connector is historically the ZX12R tends to suffer heat/melting issues with the OEM one leading to all sorts of Modifications to try and improve it.
As can be seen in your Video even that larger fella melted and glued the connections together which was the reason you had a problem parting it and eventually the wires came out instead of the connector halves undoing.
