I have a 01 zx9 I just bought wrecked and cheap, I can get it started but it runs rough and when i throttle it it chokes out and dies and I can not get it above 4000 rpms unless I choke it then throttle it and it seems to have a much better reaction at the higher rpm, I have cleaned the carbs replaced the plugs, fresh fuel, fuel additive/injector, new fuel pump, when I first got it running it was rough and was chasing fuel issues and before I fixed it one time it idloled smooth and excellent throttle response but then it died and when I started it back up it was rough again, any help would greatly appriciated tia

Hard to say as it could be a few things.

Most often its air getting in, so check the carbs and breather pipes are all seated and connected correctly.

Then check the down pipes to see if any are running cold or cooler as this could point to a carb flooding because of a bad float valve, or float valve seat washer.

Check the stick coils are seated down fully.

Report back what you find, and any new information.

Sounds to me like it's leaning out. Vacuum leak somewhere.
