I had to put a new tire on after my trip out west.I wore a dunlop out within 8600km or 5375miles.This was the worst mileage yet out of the zx12. I put a 190 on the rear by shinko and it seem's quite good and hooks up good.don't know how long it will last but it was 100bucks less.anone else ever use this boot.

Rowdy, you got 5400 miles out of a rear tire???

Shinko, never heard of it. All google turned up was numerous mfg.'s of circuit boards, heavy tools, and so forth.

I am slightly inquisitive though - why would you go with a cheap no-name tire just to save some money? She low-sides on you the lower cowl alone is $338.

it had the same speed rating etc as the Dunlop and I was talking to a friend of mine and he read an article on them and it stated it was a very impressive tire.I'm not a really an agressive rider so i'm sure it can handle my riding capabilities.

I was at the dealer tonight and he can get that brand tire. Some guy just had a pair put on his Katana(canatuna). They also told me alot of the cruisers are sporting them cause there cheap.
Not me....I ride hard and I am going with what the track has proven.

Just remember, when you are at any point during a ride, you have a maximum of 2 square inches of contact patch on the road, under the best conditions.

Cheap tires are not a bargain.

Okay, I'll stop preaching....

I think some people look at bike tires like they do car tires.

"Well, cheaper.... okay. Same mileage?"

Its not the same.

I am not knocking anyone here, but I feel pretty strongly that going cheap on tires is false economy, at best.

My rear tire lasted 4500 miles. No burnouts, plenty of dragstrip time, second clutch. My front is showing a cord or two in spots. It has 7900 on it. It is the stock Dunlop and the rear is a BT-010 200/50 ZR17. Fixin to try a 180/55 ZR17 Micehlin Pilot Sport and on the front as well.

everyone has one brand or type they like & "swearbye"

That's what makes america great....you are not forced to like or use what someone else thinks is the best. You have the freedom to check out the product & make your own decisions on the findings.

I'm surprised that no one mentioned that Shinko is a well-known (fairly) brand of tire at the Drag Strip. Better street/strip than an M/T, but some folks like the M/T better for strip only duty.

A few years ago, no one knew what a TOYO (car) tire was! Sounds cheap as hell, but they are on par with some of the best, they just originated outside of the USA.
