All my friends say I don't need it , there's no where to ride it here. They are all trying to get me to buy a new Harley bagger instead. I already own a Harley and have been wanting a new sport bike for a while now . I am 48 yrs old and can afford it , so what are your thoughts.

I got my zx14 to add to my Harley pile. Except for really long rides, the 14 is the best. Incredible handling and power

Yes busas are fine I owned a 2000, sold it 4 yrs later now I am looking at the flat black 2014 zx14r, and I hated the fins myself when they first came out but I love Kawasaki and I can't stop thinking about it !

lemme guess... THEY all ride Hardleys. well, that explains their push. I ignore those folks and get what i want. Owned a Busa and was gonna buy a new one but local dealer wouldn't deal. Their loss. got the ZX for a nice price and have been completely happy. I like the fin look.

If you have the funds and don't want to be a conformist, then I say go for it. My ZX definitely gets the looks, but then, it's the only one around for 2-300 hundred miles with my color scheme. WOOT!!

Ok I'm going to jump into this! I have also been thinking for a while now about getting a zx14r, probably a 2012 model in the green colour. I have even researched all the usual mods and a few less common ones, adding up costs, re-questioning myself on whether I really want it!

Back in '08 I traded my '00 12r for a new 14, had it a year/18,000kms, sold it and went back to a '00 12r. This time I am intending to keep the 12 and get the 14r. I know it means I will probably ride the 12 less, but I have considered either bringing it back to pure stock or even de-registering it and making it a track bike, I have done several Philip Isd track days on the 12r and would love to make it more dedicated to that purpose. Of course there is a powerful force that cannot be ignored which influences the destiny of all my endeavors and desires (wife) which must be appeased before I can realize my dreams!

Cobras67, naturally enough being on a Kawasaki forum I would recommend the 14r, but if only for the fact you already have a Harley so why not something different (yes I know I already have a 12 and want a 14r, but...that's different...so there...).

Yes all the friends own Harleys and they dont understand why I like the twists and the pure power of a sport bike. All I have been doing for the last 3 weeks is looking for parts to add on and waiting for the dealer to call me when one comes in. I have to admit that this has really made me desire it more than other things in the past.

Get the 14r and then kick yourself for not getting it sooner. I have a kz1000 a vmax and a built 12r and still want a 14r soooo bad. All of my bikes do something different for me. I think you should take it for a ride if they let you and see if you get that got to have it feeling. Thats why I havent gone for a ride on a 14 or 14r because I buy what gives me that feeling. I have no kind of will power.
Hey put up some pics of that flat black 14r I didnt know they did it in flat black.

Dont put much into what others think of the looks of the bike they will only be seeing the ass end of it. And yes that im talking about the bmw 1000rr. Redsled.

If you are spending this much time researching and thinking about it you have to just go by it. Anything else will feel like a mistake, imo.

Coming in here and asking a question like this is about the same as going to Starbucks and asking the clerk if they think you should buy a coffee product to drink. Seriously?

The ZX14R is the meanest motorcycle to ever be built and sold to the public. From everything I've ever read or seen personally about the bike it does many things very well. Unless you plan to build an all out turbo charged monster with it at some point down the road there's not a better choice than a 14R to buy. And best of all it's a Kawasaki!

Ok went back to the deLer to see when the New 2014 zx14r would be in and they tell me they missed the first quarter order date, guess it's time to find another dealer!

What kind of loser dealer misses their chance to place orders? Here's the answer--------------> A BROKE ONE so it's probably not a good choice for a dealer anyway since they most likely won't be there much longer anyway.
