How often you suppose you'll see that kind of speed? I did 180 on the speedo once just to see how it felt. I have no further need for that much velocity. I do love the acceleration though.

I haven't had mine past 160...indicated before the 17 tooth front. I'd say it was closer to 150ish?

Really stable at that speed, I'll hit more than that this summer but difinately have no desire to hit 190 - 200mph...not yet anyway!<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/devil.gif ALT=":evil">

" The Black Robotics Yellow Box will also de-restrict the 186mph limit. "

IS IT REAL ? its not also for recalibrator the speed reading ?

I heard that the 02 wasn't speed limited!!

But you guys are much more reliable sources.

Has any1 else heard this same rumor?

My understanding is that all the Japanese manufacturers agreed to a 186 mph limit in order to keep the government from stepping in and doing so.

And yes, the 02 12 is definitely limited to 186, stock.

I can only speak for the Yellow Box here...it does not affect the tach in any way. I think this is good...I want the rev limiter!!

Also, the '01's (and probably the '02s) were speed restricted based on the signal from the speedo sensor - located at the front sprocket. The ECU calculates speed based on how fast the front sprocket is turning...hence the major speedo error when you change gearing.

So, the Yellow box can effectively "force" the speedo to read much lower than actual speed = derestricted. The only problem is that lets say your running a true 200mph, depending on how you have it set up the speedo will only show 175, 180, etc. You'll have to know the actual gearing of your bike and the offset for the Yellow Box to give you real speed.

It's all fairly simple math really...only hard to explain!! My estimate is that the YB should theoretically allow you to go over 215MPH, depending on your final gearing. Any takers?? If so, I want to be there for it!!!!!

If you use the Yellow Box to derestrict the 01, and 02 does that make

your speedo read low throughout the entire range, or can you somehow

set it to read correct at lower speed's? I'm not sure, but my understanding

of the Bonneville Box is that it can keep your speedo correct until 186.

No the Bonnevile box doesnt affect the already incorrect speedo reading. It stays the same (incorrect) it just fools the computer in 6th gear to think is only doing 100mph

Will the installation of the bonneville or the yellow box take away the built in rev limiter in the lower gears?

The yellow box is a one trick pony...once you set it up it will read x% offset at all speeds -

Example...if you set the yellow box to show a 10% reduction (indicated speed) - your speedo will read 10% lower than your actual speed no matter how fast your going -

At 30mph indicated...actual speed = 26-27mph

At 50mph indicated...actual speed = 45mph

At 100mph indicated...actual speed = 90mph

And so on...so, at lower speeds you would effectively be reading closer to your actual speed (still 10% off, but only 3-5mph off). At higher speeds the reading is much different (still 10% off, but could be 10-20mph off) depending on how fast your going.
