I know everyone keeps telling me I'm crazy but I want to trade my WR for for a KLX. I'm planning on riding the Trans-American Trail with my wife this summer. I have an 08' WR250X with 5,500 miles, custom akrapovic exhaust, Bazzaz EFI with the z-afm (auto tune), rear luggage rack, Moose Racing skidplate, and two sets of wheels. The factory supermoto 17" wheels and aftermarket 18" and 21" dirt wheels fully loaded with rotors, sprockets and d.i.d. gold x-ring chain for an easy 10 minute wheel swap whenever you want. I also have a Seat Concepts seat on the way but it hasnt arrived yet. The fuel injection on the WR is wonderful. I have ridden it to work overnight and started no problem in single digit temperatures with nothing more than a quick hit of the starter. I'm currently running the dirt wheels on the bike. The supermoto wheels will come with it.
The reason I am interested in the klx is because I bought a new 2014 klx for my wife and I rode it for the whole break in period before lowering it to suit her height. Both of us riding the same bike would be a benifit for spare parts in case of any issies on the trail and I much prefer the powerband and the more usable torque curve of the klx over the high strung rpm dependant WR for dual sport riding. I'm only looking for a similarly setup klx. One with the 350 big bore kit would be preferable but not a deal breaker if it's not. I prefer the S over the sf but I'd consider a 2010 blue sf but would still need dirt wheels. Let me know what you've got. Thanks.
