QUESTION::::
What do you get when a State Trooper(police) points a radar gun at you on the interstate while doing 97mph????

ANSWER:::: A $216.00 speeding ticket

Yup...messed up and got my first ticket in 4 years. The good news is that I was polite and respectfull and instead of sending me off to court for Reckless operation, they dropped the speed to 90 and gave me the max ticket. We had a nice chat...all 4 of them, and they all wanted to know how fast the bike was. I told them usualy it goes 65 but today I really cut it loose. They laughed and said seriously and that they didn't care how fast I might have broken the law before. So I gave in and told them my 01 with the mandatory Bonneville box would burry the clocks with room left.
Needless to say, they were impressed but still gave me the be carefull lecture. One of them then asked me...."don't you ever worry about a flat tire?" I replied that I usually think of 1000 things when going fast, and if I didn't, I would be dead along time ago.
So....I came home feeling quite a bit more poor than when I had left. The wifey couldn't understand why I wasn't all jerked off and pissed about it. I just simply figure...given the amount of times I act up on my bikes and not been caught...I still feel like one lucky mo fo.

P.S.
There goes my Desault undertail this month!!

I feel for you mono, just think of the many times you haven't been tagged, when you were over and then amortize the money saved over the long run and you'll always come out ahead!

Psycho...I was on two wheels this time.

One more final thought...these bikes have a ticket avoider built in. It's called the operators thinking cap and the amount of throttle used. This time the thinking cap was off and the throttle was on. Just glad I was cruising and not on a high speed mission...

Everybody stand up and give Mono a golf clap for his good behavior. My best friend is a HP in S. Dak, and will give a guy a break. One thing he doesn't have time for is excuses! My hat's off to you Mono. Doesn't do much for the pocket book though.

Let up for a second, and that's where you finish!!

Ya right Mono it could have been alot worse.
If you got caught doing 97MPH here, you would lose your bike for 30 days immediately, you would lose your license immediately for 6 or maybe 12 months, and you would get a fine between $700 to $1200.
So you see, I know it sucks getting caught, but when you speed here the stakes are much higher.

how fast you run that bike! I possibly could understand if you were endangering anyones life other then your own!

I am not going to go off on a cop rant because two of my best friends in life are cops. One a deceased State Trooper & the other still working.

This ticket shit is all about God Damn $ and is a fuckin crime within itself!!! Its pure rank ass bull shit!

Not any different then being mugged except it was done under the guise of being legal!

These Officers should have been spending their time looking for criminals.

No disrespect toward you but being grateful for a ticket only encourages these KID cops!

The constitution gives us the right to travel unimpeded & no where requires a license.

Same shit as having to purchase a building permit to have kitchen cabinets installed in your home!

TOTAL BULL SHIT!

Yep, theres not that many cops on the road where I go riding, but then it only takes one. You get used to riding with your eyes wide open down here. Trouble with the 12 is it just wants to go faster.

Tough luck on the ticket. All of us speed at one time or another and the odds are we will eventually earn a ticket and donate some money to the public coffers.

FWIW, the more traffic on a road, the more chance it will be patroled. The majority of law enforcement will be found on the Interstates, the state highways, and inside city limits.

Conversely, the county secondary roads have the least traffic, lowest population density and the cops rarely patrol. That's where we do our speeding and really haul the mail.

Where did I get my last ticket? Inside the Sarasota city limits. I violated my own rule! DUH!

Be careful out there,
Dave

Exactly Dave...I rarely travel the interstates. This time I needed to get to an exit to meet someone. I was 5 minutes late too...
