FearsomeK: Can you post some details and dyno pics here on the Hans Monster Air Intake. I hear that you have some actual dyno time before and after.

Thank you very much,

Easyrider

It would be worth a custom login name. You know you want one.

thanks Ninja, do you like Coors Light? I know it's the silver bullet and all, but I think it tastes like shit....

Definitely tastes like shit.....or watery shit. Needed a new angle for silver though since you already got silver bullet covered.

hahahaha. dont go holding your breath guys...

he doesnt have a before and after from the same Dyno.. the before is from some shitty backwater machine, the after is from one of the best DJ250 operators in the UK....

he doesnt have a baseline dyno, so all his "it made this much more" is a load of FK (FK=shit)..he did the Y2K mods before doing any dyno work...then he tried to FK you all with his FK talking telling you that it made this much more power.....then when he finally gets it mapped, it gives a FK result....then he tries to tell you lot a pile of FK that the monster makes this much more power....without even a reference point from which to talk his FK...

I refer you to Doug Meyers and Y2K's post that states.... something along the lines of ..seems that FK doesnt know FK about what hes talking..or is he just dribbling FK..

FK, what a load of FK that FK talks....

dont you think??

nice site Easy, I come here alot, to find info

That sounds pretty impressive. Even if they were on different dyno's it sounds like the shape of the dyno curves tell a reasonable story about the performance gains.

Plus it sounds like it backs up your Butt dyno readings.

Have you had a chance to make any highspeed runs?

Thanks for the information,

here's my take on it as I've posted on Bikeland

Baseline or no baseline I think the snorkel will offer improvement based on smoother flow. Obviously smoother flow will generate higher flow ratings and better velocity. Velocity doesn't mean shit if it's acheived by obstructing airflow. I has to be acheived by the general size of the chamber that's flowing the air. The general shape of the chamber has to be smooth and uniform not bumpy like the stock snorkel. The less transition for air from one form to another the better the flow. I could go on about this all day with a flow/velocity/valve size speech but I don't want anyone to lose interest.

Thankyou Egg.

The first thing I said, was that I hadn't got a reliable baseline but that it looked promising. Never claimed anything else Egg. Go read my post again.

Before pc3 and Monster = 158.5 (4th) and 165.3 (through the gears).

After pc3 and Monster = 171 (4th) and 179 (through the gears).

As I said, the bike may not have been at full whack before due to the valve fault (if it was there then) so it is not a reliable baseline.

What I did say was the quality of the graph and the length of time the bike sits bang on peak power. It sits long enough that in the all 6 gear pull, from 2nd to 6th, the bike never varies from peak hp. From 9K, the bike sits bang on peak til redline. No fall-off and no sharp rise before hand, I,ve never seen a bike sit so long bang on peak.

The torque curve (96lb/ft at peak) is 75lb at 2.5K, rises to 90 by 6K and stays above 90 til 10K with only a gradual fall off til redline, still at 80lb. Humungously better than the previous dyno.

Peak hp I have not made any claims. But what I can say is the bike sits at peak power from 2nd gear to 6th at 179hp, totally flatlines, that will make a difference from before. I was losing 10-15 in each gear, and with a lesser peak power figure.

I dont recall saying anything else.

Here is a quote from FearsomeK on the latest results of his Hans Monster Air Intake:

"Well, I have to say I was stunned by the performance of the 12R today. It absolutely anihilated the field.

Me and Mr Lucky ran my 12R on the last day of the season today where all the top dogs were there fighting over the top spots of the Straightliners series.

My bike has bone stock engine, MONSTER AIR SCOOP, pc3r, K&N filters, lowered, quickshifter, and geared 2 DOWN on the back for the flyer. A custom map was done last week, where i didnt gain much peak hp but it made a lovely curve (178.8 and 196lb-ft DIN)

Mr Lucky (Busa owner), 1st run of the day, 2nd run ever on a 12R in his life - 9.59 @ 146. Absolutely awesome and his first 9!

Me - 9.98 (yippee!) @ 147

Lucky was quickest out of all the bikes in the 9.5 class eliminators with a 9.6 e.t. but he got knocked out by a Nitrous bandit that pipped him on the line with a 9.8! How the fuck that works I dont know! What makes the achievement that bit more special, it was GEARED TALL FOR THE FLYER AND NOT ON A PROPER OR PREPPED DRAGSTRIP! There is plenty more to come in e.t.

At the time of leaving, Lucky on the 12 was the fastest normally aspirated bike (again!)at 196mph. I did a 193. I think the TTS Hayabusa (a built bike from the TTS tuners in the UK) split us. 3 turbos were there, the quickest doing 222 (Max, from Busa to the Max - 400hp).

It's even better, Lucky went on about 3 or 4 modded and/or piped Busas and his best was 181. He went on a bone stock 12 and did 182!!!

THE BIG QUESTION....IS THE MONSTER AIR SCOOP WORTH IT?

Fucking unequivically, undoubtedly, fandabydosingly YES!!!!!

One race i was up against one of the main runners in the 9.5 class on a Hayabusa. As usual, my launch was crap and he left me for dead. By the top of second, I was four bike lengths down. By the 1/4 lights I was three lengths ahead. The fucking power of this bike post custom map and Monster scoop is breathtaking.

Zturbo etc, I understand why you are sceptical about the snorkel with the way it was "marketed". But look at the data:

Lucky's best previously (flyer) - 191 Today, 196!

Luckys best previously (1/4 et)- 10.4, today 9.59!

My best previously (flyer) - 184, today 193!

My best e.t. before, 10.43. Today, 9.98!

We said we needed real world testing. Well I defy anyone not to be impressed by a 12 set up this way. Fuck!
