I will be using information from these Forums to create a website very similar to www.zx-12r.org
The more details on and good quality the discussion the more detailed the new www.zx-9r.org site will be.

Please pass the word around and make this the #1 ZX-9R site.

Thanks,

Easyrider

Watch out for Diesel on the roads!

I fell of my ZX9R-C2 a few weeks ago. Hit a spillage whilst travelling in slow moving traffic on a straight road.

The weather was foul, black sky and heavy rain.

I landed on the right side of the bike at 15mph and slid further than you would expect.

The magic mushroom fell off...... my fault, I left the old washer in the hole and the bolt didn't have enough thread left to hold into the frame. Sods law that you don't find there's a problem, until you have a problem!

Any way the damage was ground through exhaust, engine cases and damaged fairing. plus usual scratches to mirror, levers and seat unit. Total cost of damage £2500. plus £500 excess on the insurance plus the renewal cost of insurance to get claims bonus down - aprox £600.

AND NONE OF THE AUTHORITIES GAVE A DAM, they just said it's one of those things!

So keep your eyes open.

This may be a dumb question, but...what is a magic mushroom, besides the kind that people harvest around here illegally to get a serious buzzzz.

thanks,

Easy,

A 'magis mushroom' is a lump of plastic that looks a bit like a mushroom, it fits to the side of the bike inside the fairing. (Usually bolted to the frame rails). The idea behind it is when you fall off it will save the engine and reduce the damage to the fairing. However, if you have a big one it may also cause damage to the frame as well!

Ted
