Be interesting to see if you guys feel any difference when you balance the throttle body's?

Yep, I'm hoping to find some difference too!

Also just put in new roller style bearings and races in the headstem, have to give a big thanks to Warp12 as I got stuck with the different style of bearings to OEM and looked up his massive thread on his 1287 project bike to see pics and tips on install - finally found them on page 30!!!

yes its the radial ones but no bracket as I have Radial brakes anyway :king:

So I am hoping its just a straight change over but I'll give myself some time just in case :thumbup:

Yea, I should have looked at your avatar better, I can see there radial now. :banghead:

I thought the radial braked 12's stopped really well :puzzled:

Or are you swapping the calipers, 'because you can'.

Yes they are good but still soft at the lever

and after the meet I could move the lever on that slow silver 12 :rotflmao: at all so :headscratch:

I want came to mind :rotflmao:
Just want that extra bit of movement for that "OH Hell " time :thumbup:

I picked up a Green A1 ZX12, with 25,000 miles on the clock, last week, for a good price.


So far,

17 tooth front sprocket,
TPS mod,
static ignition advance,
quick action throttle insert,
front caliper strip and rebuild,
fit the alarm properly,
remove Oxford Hot Grips, replace with standard,
repair wobbly left mirror lens (will be on website soon),
'cat' already removed,
took Quill exhaust can apart, made it into a straight through, not optimum, but better,

To do,

air filters, k&n or bmc, choices, :headscratch::lol:
kleen air removal and vacuum procedure,
oil and filter.
re-make exhaust hanger,
replace right, rear indicator lens, melted for some reason, luggage I think.
and a bloody good clean:rant:

It had plugs when I serviced it last year, but will check them, NGK CR9EIX

And I'll have to have a look into a throttle body sync, not done that on a 12 before.

edit: its got a 'B' model front mudguard :thumbdown:

Very nice dave! I've been to your sight a few times, and it's obvious you know your way around ZX12's. Did you sell your red one?

No, still got the Red A1, and the Red A2.

Just need a Blue, Silver and the Slower (for Mauser:thefinger:) Black and Gold.:thumbup:

Then I'll be skint, and won't have the money to ride any of them. :rotflmao:

I modified the throttle body 'Inlet Stacks',

I took loads of pictures too, so will update the web page.

Cleaned and installed a pair of MK2 K&N filters as well,

The original OEM filters were minging. :angry:.


Right, back to work now, I've got quite a lot more to do.
