I had a clapped out '60 VW convertible - damn battery fell through the floorboard while I was driving. Also had a '64 Pont. LeMans (6 cyl.), '72 Triumph Spitfire. I bought my first new car when I was 32, a Lincoln Cont. Mark VII LSC. Only had it 10 months when a damn bridge jumped in front of me while going 60 mph while I was driving drunk. It burnt and was a total loss. A friend was riding with me. He was uninjured. I only got a few cuts. We were damn lucky. I lost my license for a year and my insurance went to $465/mo.for 3 years! And it only covered liability for a piece of shit '76 Granada! I learned my lesson about booze and driving the hard way!

Not just a barbarian, a great barbarian!

I bought my first car with me own monies. I was 17 back in 1967 and a friend of our family was selling his 1956 Merc for $100! It had a 312 C.I. and standard tranny. The car had perfect paint and body... interior and exterior... it was a beauty. We lived near a golf course and I was a caddy. $3 for a 18 hole single or $6 for a double. $100 was a lot of money to me back then. (still is)

The Merc came with 4 brand new tires, that was a plus. The first thing I done, I took the shifter off the colum and put a Hurst on the floor. Next, I put a Oppenheimer intake manifold with 3 duces (3-2bl, Holly's) Then I raised the ass-end up with air bags.... she was lookin' bad.

That was one bad-ass car! It took me 2 whole weeks to blow the motor! But..... I traded it even up for a 57' Chevy.

I got pics of these cars.... just got to find'em

BTW, my very own first motorcycle was a 1965 Tohatsu 50cc twin.

Bet alot of us wish we had some of these vehicles today. I know I wish I had some of mine....I guess I could live without the ElCamino or the brown Olds Omega, though...

When I got this Camaro it was purple with a black vinyl top and a three speed manual. I dropped in an LT1, close ratio Muncie, 12 bolt and did a little body work.

In 1980 I bought a 74 Volvo 164E that had 98K miles on it, drove it through college and still had it when I got married. I had to get the engine rebuilt and bought a rust bucket Audi Fox while the work was being done. Then I bought an 82 Mazda 626 and drove it to hell and back. Then I got an 83 Volvo 242 GLT turbo; that was a sweet ride until a guy pulled out in front of me and totaled it. The first and only new car I bought was the wife's and it was an 86 Volvo 240 GL. After the demise of my Volvo turbo I bought an 87 BMW 535iS that I still drive today, it's got 215k mile on it. I've also have a 95 BMW 740iL. I also had several Ford trucks, currently an 87 F-150 with 175K miles. I believe in keeping vehicles until there is no more life in them!!!

Hello, My name is OutsiderZX12R, and I am a ZX-12R.org addict.

1967. You can tell by the door windows. I am in the process of tracking this car down. If it hasn't been crushed, I'd like to get it back. But, alot can happen to a car in 23 years.
