I am seriouly considering a muzzy 998 kit. I am wanting some feedback and if posible some dyno numbers before and after. I have heard some rumors that these kit and the standard bolt-ons can reach 160 hp. Please let me know what the real deal is.

thanks,

Maurice

I have a really good mechanic friend doing this kit now.he does work alot 6 days a week so progress is slow, but he will finish soon,as i said before i will post results when available.

I think your about right on the h.p #'s though we all know dyno's vary.He was pushing around 135 before rebuild.

he weighs only 130lbs too so he's gonna be a missle.

we run together alot and he's already fast, even on my 12r he's right there, but we usually ride the 9's together.

i'm waiting on his outcome myself hopefully my 9 will be next.

How fast did you go with your kit?? 1/4 mile??

Has anyone with this kit been 150+ in the 1/4??

Has anyone with this or any kit or stroke been 150+ in the 1/4??

I have a guy who wants to sell me the entire motor out of a 2000 9R who did the 998 kit. Motor comes with carbs and all, and has been dynotuned for max power. Faxed me dyno sheets showing 157 RWHP on the Dynojet. Asking around 2K for the setup. Yeehaa!

998cc big bore kit on my Zx9r C1

ZX9rc1 i have the muzzy big bore kit , their block with special 79mm forging's from JE as my MTc pistons cracked on two pistons also they rocked with lots of clearance the new Je's are very quite but are burning oil , i think i have an oil control problem, my bike has made 165.5 bhp with 85.5 ftlbs torque, with 105 intake and 102 on stock cams , it also pulls a geniune 186 as i have one tooth less on the rear and have been tested in the uk by magazines "stock gearing on rev limiter is 178mph" and rruns 9.96 @ 150 mph with stock wheelbase . it also weighs 165 dry or 193 fully wet. going for new rings and 14.1 comp ratio ...ps my motor has 61,000 miles its has never been beaten rips eevry tuned Gsxr1000 to death it also eats zx12s and busa's great fun i have some nice zx998r stickers that look like stock on the nose cone to rub it in !

big bore

The bores are probably a little too big (oil consumption problem) and also the cracked pistons that you mention, you want .00175' - .002" max on this motor.

I have the MTC pistons, and have done countless top end runs and probably 50 dyno runs as well, 4500 street miles and it sounds just like when I put it together 2 years ago.

Awesome :)

When I first got it, the piston clearance was off a little bit......I sent it back to Muzzy and they replaced it for me.

Then I assembled everything.....the rest is history :)

I love my 99 ZX9R (Blue), I did a lot of mods to it......

998 piston kit

Full Akrapovic 4-1 w/ ti hanger

My carb kit :)

+4 advancer

Set stock cams to 107 in/104 ex. (cam hubs and slotted sprockets from Muzzys)

Eurobikes undertail (w/intergrater kit for signals)

Fork leg lowers from 2000 model (to use the larger brakes)

OZ wheels for 2000 model (6" rear)
I had to change wheel bearings for the thinner axle and shorten the right side spacer a little bit.

Ohlins rear shock and raised ride height a little

Toby steering damper

I have no intentions of ever selling it, I just love it to death......and the best thing about it is that it will blow the doors off just about anything and looks like a basically stock bike with a few add ons.
