I'm wondering what all the hype is about the 250? I'm a female, and I think it's so underpowered. I 've had gxsr 600 in the past and also 500 ninja. Could not settle for 250. Now that the 500 is gone, I'm wondering what your opinions are about the 250 and 500.

I don't think there is a lot of hype about it. It is an easy-to-handle bike that is well-balanced and emphasizes rider skill over hp. That makes it a very good platform to learn on.

I learned on a 500 and I feel like power-wise it was a perfect starter bike to learn the essentials. After a couple months tho, I was ready for an upgrade... kinda feel like that 'need' for an upgrade would have come too fast with a 250. But as warp12 said, the 250 emphasizes learning how to ride and handle a bike, not about power.

The 250 is lighter than the 500 and 600s
The 250 has a shorter wheelbase than those so it handles quicker
The 250 has skinnier wheels so it handles better than wider-rimmed bikes.
The 250 gets amazing fuel economy so even if you're on reserve you have a good chance of making it through 1-2 counties in a police chase.
The 250 will make you a better rider in the long run.
When you beat people while on a 250 they feel bad and you feel good.

If you ride a 250 hard you will be rewarded. Shift like you're being nice to it and it will feel like poop.

Friend of mine bought a gsxr 1000 years ago and got a free track day with his purchas. After all his leson they got him on the track, he said that on straights he had the advantage but on the turns the 250 were almost driving right under him in ever turn and passing him.

Which would be perfectly normal.

I'd love to give a 250 a trackday workout. A rider from a local site posted his trackday vid from High Plains Raceway just outside of Denver, and the bigger bikes would BLOW by him on the straights..... and almost every corner he was right there passing them back. Those little bikes look like they'd be a blast.
I haven't heard much "hype" about them other than its a great platform to learn on.
