ZX12 bolt on extensions are now ready. 3 1/2 to 5 1/2 extended. Cost is $260.00 plus shipping. Sorry Rickey,I did everything possible to try and get them down to 3 inches so you could use them in the 60" class but that was not possible and keep it's integrety. But I have something in mind,I will keep you posted.

"for some reason those extensions just don't look very Sturdy to me...... Has anyone used these? It would be a good addition for that weekend dragracer that didn't want to swap swingarms. "

I use 6061T Billet Aluminum. They are secured with steel well nuts and grade 8 bolts. I have done extensive Tortion testing with these extensions,I have been michaing these for over 5 years with no failures or complaints.Which would you trust,a 1/8 wide aluminum weld or a steel grade 8 bolt with a steel well nut?

No offense taken,if you really think about how these are bolted on along with the surface mating area you will start to understand. Then think about how welded swingarm extensions are installed. The mating surface of welded on extensions are only about 1/2 in width. As a tire is rotated the gyroscopic effect tries to force the swingarm downward and to the left(since the chain is on the left) so in effect the swingarm is being twisted. My Bolt-on extensions have 3 surfaces that mate to the swingarm(Top,back, bottom) only the area where the mounting bolts(the face)has no mating surface. So my extensions are held in place by the steel well nuts and the axle itself. There are no sharp edges on the outside of the piece like other bolt on extensions because I have found that harmonic vibrations will build up in that area and cause fatigue(cracks). All long as you use Loctite Blue on the bolts the extensions are going to move.

Cool stuff. What improvement in et could someone expect using these extensions? Assuming of course they were a decent rider.

Gixx,

You said you use Grade 8 well nuts on your arm extensions. Is that for both sides? From the pictures you have, it looks like the side with the brake caliper mount is just screwed into the aluminum. I does look like some sort of nut on the left side, but not even any space for it on the right side. Also, do the extensions just fit into the rectangular pocket, or do they protrude into the existing axle slot at the point of bolt on (what prevents them from sliding forward or back...looks like they are not quite mating with the slightly tapered fromt of the pocket)? I am looking for extensions, just wondering if I should get these from you or go with a weld on. Any plans for or luck with longer extensions?

Here in Hawaii we have 5 bikes draging using the extenders. No problems, from zx12's Busa's 750 and 1000 suzuki's.

Put one knee down for the curves and both knees down for GOD!</p>

On the left side that is a plate that substitutes for the slider for the Rear Brake Caliper brake. The Extensions fit into the Rectangular pocket. I havent looked into longer ones for the ZXs yet but I will soon. they cannot slide back because there are Well nuts inside the oval of the swingarm
