Having to remove my battery tray is annoying enough that I would go to any expense to resolve charging issues... I was changing batteries every year before I replaced my regulator, I hate our battery location...

Same battery from 2 years, also I did quick charging socket.
No troubles with battery, Im not riding till it stop, just charging with good motorcycle charger. Thanks for thoughts.

Ok Guys, it been a while, however Im getting back to work. GP involve to pretty serious aero during last year.

I was always into time attack and f1 aero design during years I observe how it improve.

When I saw frist gp ducati I was sure I have to do this in my bike, now Im readdy to start.





Yesterday I draw some first ideas of winglets, will post pictures and first aero test with diy steam tool.

On pictures You have results Im looking for, also I want to add some vortex generators and some king of aero under belly pan.

What I want to achive is better flow all over the bike, separat flow and reduce drag. I count also on better stability in to the corners.


Before doing big elements need to prepare all needed stuff. Anyhow at first I need to know what am I fighting with, so I prepared twine for tests.

I think there are some places and some areas that could be improved, also there are lets call it dead spots that are thought nut to break (Of course we want to keep the serial machine look).

Im also curious how exhaust flow inlue on tail section. My concern is shape of all aero elements, guess the best is tear shape, however it will be hard for me to achive at home.

Im using aircraft material to make them work in my case, am I correct I don't know but if values will resonable I guess I will. When we look at the bike from above it has approximately shape to tear drop, so I looks like wing in cross-section. So I think when we want to make vortex generators (no minus points onluy advantages) we can use same calculation as aviation.

Here is calculation.



air density - motorcycle (yes)
chord length - motorcycle length
dynamic Viscosity of air - set value

At the end we have stall speed, copy paste (Sumontro Sinha)
Stall speed is the speed where a wing loses lift and adds a lot of drag.
Should be lentgh from end of side fairing to the end of the bike.





I only think now about upper stream of air (fastest air) as its most important for us,
second side of bike is equal (I know exhaust).

The exact formula is
V = √( 2 W g / ρ S Clmax )

V = Stall Speed
W = Weight of the aircraft
g = 9.81 (Acc. Due to Gravity)
ρ = Density of Air
S = Wing Area
Clmax = Coefficient of Lift at Stall

Wing area is our whole bike (of course not in 100%) but I will count it as a length and from highest point to the ground.

Another value which I need to solve is Coefficient of Lift at Stall which is angle of attack,
I will take value from center line of the bike (from above) to maximum angle of bike turning point.

All these will let me to get Reynolds Number which I need to determine the height of my main wing and then.

During the weekend I did some calculations ang get some numbers. I cut cardboard form of main wing (to be honest there should be 3 of them across whole hight of the bike).
All numbers are for rectangular vortex generator beacuse I have good explenation how to do this. Anyhow rectangular profile is good as it self because of a big operating surface.
After I get size of the wing I calculate winglet for it basing on diameters of the wing.
Was thinking about profile, what I get its about 8mm maximum thickness, which should be 1/3 length from front of the wing. Need to read about it more. Shape should depand on Re number size.

After all I calculate best postions and hight for wing to be placed.

Back in a days I did also handle fairings, but know I think they should be a bit bigger (I change clip on's position to wider.

During the weekend I did cardboard VG and make a small test.
Thought result will be better or just more noticeable, however I think I should go fasters.
Very interesting thing is that VG fit perfect in diameters to original wing, space between all of them is 74mm.

In middle picture what I can see is that strings are not going down like before,
after hot air outlet we are loosing control so I guess ther should be something.
Main wing of side fairing wasn't installed.

Been busy last weeks, but now Im getin back to business

Sorry for bad quality pics. I did first part of aero, small vgs to mount them on front of side fairings.

Its double 120g cf and polyester resin. Weight and stiffnes its pretty decent.

Now I will make bigger sheet for big wings.

Hey Guys, I was busy like hell during last weeks, but my project slowly moves forward. Big wing are almost done, need to do side covers. I resue cf from old spoiler. Its not the cleanest job, anyway its really stiff and I guess will perform good.

Looks like you're building your own homemade H2R!!

All you need to do is stick a Super Charger on!!

Hey Zumi, I hope so. For sure head lamp fairing is strong and stiff enough, I guess that in worst scenario I will have to make small bracket to hold side fairings together. Low faring part could need a bit of support.

I must have that exhaust canister, can you still get one of those? Reminds me of the Tsukigi I had on my Hayabusa, that thing would shatter your eardrums while riding. I had to change it, it was painful.
Its great canister, light and loud :) Its UK based company called Racefit RACEFIT EXHAUST OFFICIAL.
Its pricey but maybe You can find it used on ebay (as I did).
My pipe its for some gsxr, however its about 65mm bore so I doesnt block 12 fumes :)


p.s.
After few minutes of reflection I owe You to mention I crazy LOUD. Especially with aftermarket headers.

Just recived used rear magnesium wheel. Need to check if there is no very tricky corosion and if its OK it will get new paint and go straight on bike.
